I'm actually here from shinyopals's post on Moffat. After reading your comment, I decided to mosey on over here as I liked the way you articulated yourself, and I find that not only are you a Who fan, a Moffat-non-fan, and a Doctor/Rose fan, you support Obama. So I was thinking of friending you if you're cool with that.

As for the gist of this post; I'm really sorry that you had to deal with that. I've been lucky in that I haven't experienced vitriol at that level from anyone in my life, although my dad has said a few choice statements. It doesn't make it any less distressing to read that it's happened to other people. I know something like this can only infuriate you, but look at it this way. While it's true that --

I know that many people of her generation do not think that way, and thank God for that. Unfortunately, there are too many people who do feel that way, even from my own generation, and that unthinking hatred has poisoned our society.Obviously, more of them have not been poisoned because Barack obama IS our president- ( ... )

Thank you! I've been reading your current post, as well, and I'd be happy for you to friend me. :) Wow, to say LJ is busy tonight is an understatement! :D

Differences in political opinion, I can deal with. I know a 75-year old retiree in Florida isn't going to have the same political viewpoint as a 40-year-old underemployed mother in Oregon. I just can't stand racism. Not voting for Obama because you don't agree with his views is one thing, that's okay. Hating him and wishing death on him simply because he's black...no. Absolutely not acceptable at all.

I agree with you that things can, and will, change for the better. The vast majority of the American people want change; the election proved that. If we all pull together, things will change for the better, and I am looking forward to it! :)

Yeah, it's just sad. I can simply not understand the level of hate that a person can feel for someone simply because they are different. I think back to our forefathers and going even further back and just can't help but wonder why did any of it start? What is so horrible about being, looking different? We're all human beings.

Ah well, hopefully, *hopefully* things ARE beginning to change.
