DATE: Day 101 CHARACTER(S): Palpatine, Maaka Anju, Kurt Wagner STATUS: OPEN to anyone! SUMMARY: Palpatine tries to go swimming. LOCATION: a beach on the Island of Bad Taste.
Anju appeared walking on the beach underneath a parasol when she heard Palpatine's outburst. Being the curious 10 year old vampire that she was, Anju walked her way towards the older man.
"Ojii-san said a bad word," she said matter-of-factly when she was closer to Palpatine. Someone needed to tell him such things after all. That is what 10 year olds do. That and refuse to eat their vegetables.
Tilting her head to one side, she asked, "Why are you half naked and looking around?"
Palpatine jumped again as the girl drew closer. He didn't need to fake being startled this time; Anju was one of the ship's inhabitants who had no distinguishable presence in the Force, to his perceptions, at least.
"Shit, I didn't see you there, Mago-chan!" He took a few more steps back onto the shore. He gestured to the waves, which had reappeared as soon as he'd withdrawn far enough. "Did you see that? Did you see?! You see waves there now, don't you? It's not some sort of mirage in my mind?"
Anju looked curiously at the waves while noting that Palpatine swore again. She was careful not to let any sunlight touch her.
"I see the waves," answered the vampire. She wondered if he was playing some trick on her. She could obviously see the waves and the water. Anju happened to miss the part where it disappeared though.
"So they are there. Now watch! When I try to submerge myself..." Palpatine stepped forward into the surf, and the waves did their disappearing act again. "See?!?" he bellowed, incredulous. "Where did they go, Anju? Do you see them?"
Perhaps he was losing his mind. First he sees a ghostly Anakin, now ghost water?
up for another thread? (:bamfkinsSeptember 4 2009, 02:50:54 UTC
Kurt bounded onto the sand, delighted. It had been so long. The ship was nice, ja, but he loved the open space and the sun on his dark skin. He did a cartwheel, then a somersault, teleporting in the middle of the jump - BAMF! - and reappearing a few feet away. The purple smoke dissipated, drifting away on the ocean breeze.
He chuckled and swept a bow to no one in particular. It was good to have the space to move again. And he could teleport here, like he could not on the ship. Having his abilities back was freedom indeed.
He saw Palpatine a distance away on the beach. Ah, a companion. One he had not met before, but all the better. A second teleport brought him up to the man, close enough to say, "Guten tag, mein freund. How are you today?"
Always! :D If you don't mind my slownessnotfromajediSeptember 4 2009, 03:26:19 UTC
Palpatine jumped -- startled again! A rather sexy-looking blue man had just appeared before him out of thin air, amidst a haze of purple smoke. "Hello!" he replied cheerfully. "I'm... perplexed. This ocean is most bizarre."
He gazed out at what appeared to be perfectly normal ocean waves for a moment, then turned back to the other man. "I've seen you aboard the ship but I'm afraid we've not been properly introduced. I'm Palpatine." He extended a hand to Kurt, looking him over, trying to place his species. He didn't believe it was one he'd encountered in his galaxy before.
I could say the same, so. Hee.bamfkinsSeptember 4 2009, 06:02:36 UTC
"Kurt." He took the hand, enjoying the attention. It was nice to show off and get noticed once in a while. "The ocean, bizarre? How so?"
He thought he had seen Palpatine around before. Hadn't he been yelling for someone named Anakin once? Kurt wondered if he had found him. Probably not. His new acquaintance seemed interesting, anyway. Not least because of the shorts. The closest he had ever seen to such...lively swimwear was, well, that pair back home that Bobby had made him promise not to tell anyone about.
After today I'll be REALLY slow - away 'til Monday night! :OnotfromajediSeptember 4 2009, 15:04:40 UTC
Palpatine shook Kurt's hand firmly. "A pleasure." He gestured to his body -- a body that was in good shape for a man in his sixties, but... well, it was quite evident he was no spring chicken. Mainly because he sported wiry white hairs on his chest. He was rather thin, so at least there was no unsightly flab. He was not, however, calling attention to his body to win Kurt's admiration (though he actually was less self-conscious about his lack of youthful sexiness around non-humans); he wanted Kurt to notice that he was completely dry from head to toe. "Look at me. Do I look like I've been in the ocean yet?"
