The way it went down in the infirmary was simple. They had received a call saying that a member of the crew was sick, and that person just so happened to be Matt. Since Alita knew the redhead fairly well, she volunteered herself for the job.
By the time Alita had decided make her visit it was already 10 am. A little late, but not too bad. She knocked lightly on the door twice before getting bored and deciding to pound on the door. When the nurse received no answer she went ahead and unlocked the door herself. After all, he could be in critical condition!
"Oh wow," Alita chuckled, closing the door behind her. "You don't look well at all." It didn't surprise Alita in the slightest that Matt looked terrible; he didn't look the type to skip work for a silly cold.
Alita placed her bag on the table, peering into it before asking, "What have you done lately? Anything that could caus-- Matt, are you even awake?"
The first two knocks weren't enough to wake him up, but the louder one was. Matt grumbled and turned over in bed. He still was only half-awake when the door opened.
The hacker cracked his eyes open to see who was walking in. It took him a moment to recognise Alita--he probably could use some painkillers for that headache. At least it wasn't someone he didn't know, even if Matt did expect Alita to mercilessly tease him for being sick.
"'m awake," Matt grumbled. He didn't bother to move or sit up. "Jus' under the weather. You got any pain killers in that?" His accent was a bit thicker than usual, from his tiredness.
The medic laughed, shaking her head from side to side. "I can't just give you painkillers, sorry." She turned around, leaning her back against the table while tossing the medicine bottle in between her two hands. "I'm not sure what you have," Alita continued. "These could make them worse."
His accent was awfully thick, in fact it was a little tough for her to figure out what he was saying; though, since Alita could figure out whatever the hell Wocky was saying half the time a thick British accent was no problem. As long as Matt didn't start using the words, "Yo", "Bizzoy", or "Home skillet" Alita's brain would stay intact.
"As I was saying, have you done anything lately that could have caused this? Have you been in the gardens lately? Near the deer?"
"Not since the last party," he answered. Whenever that had been. Regardless, whatever he had couldn't be from there unless he had gotten it second or third hand. If that was the case, Alita would probably have insisted he go to the infirmary for quarantine.
"'m tired and I've got a headache," he said. He might have also been a bit nauseous, but he blamed it on the headache.
Well, that wasn't very helpful. "So you've done... nothing?" Alita asked, seemingly unsatisfied with Matt's answer. The medic sighed and turned around, switching the bottle of pills for a clipboard. "Are you allergic to anything?"
Alita was right. Being a nurse was dull.
"Are those all your symptoms? Rate your pain from one to ten; one being the lowest and ten being the highest." Honestly? Alita had no clue what Matt had-- this was the future after all. Hell he could have had a space parasite inside of him. Sure she was taking classes weekly with the other medics, but there's only so much you can learn in such a short amount of time.
"We might have to take you back to the infirmary."
