Cheshire leaned against the wall of the lap, watching Watari through narrowed purple eyes, curious as to what exactly the scientist thought he was doing.

He was curious as to the other man's power, simular to his in regards to dolls. He had even brought Alice with him, to show the scientist, but wanted to simply watch for a moment.

So what if his image of Tatsumi was little more than a glorified stick figure with glasses and the secretary's name scribbled above it? To Watari, it was the best he could draw and probably all he could hope to see, barring some miracle.

He heard the lab doors open, but at first he'd assumed it was just another scientist until he didn't hear footsteps passing by too closely. Confused, he stuck his pen on his ear, turned around, and raised a blond eyebrow when he spotted the cat. "What are you doing in here? My birds are in their cages."

The new ones were. 003 sat on his shoulder, feathers puffed up when she recognized Cheshire as being not human.

"I'm not only interested in your birds, Mr. Scientist. I want to see your magic, see you bring something to life. And maybe, in exchange, I'll show you something intresting." Cheshire said, clutching Alice close to him, burring his nose in her blond curls.

He didn't have to be an empath to get a weird feeling about both those words and the one saying them. Watari decided that the doll was a large part of it. Muraki liked dolls, after all, and sharing an interest with that man couldn't be a good thing.

William Birkin had been dumbfounded by even the thought of a man with such strange powers. He'd never believed in magic or anything of the sort. It left him questioning the other mans sanity or his own for going through with this. Yet here he was, walking down a hallway towards the labs. A place he looked upon with such want. Nothing could compare to the thought of having his own lab again. He feared the day would never come. So for now just walking through them would have to be enough.

Upon seeing the other blonde, William stopped in his tracks. At first he wondered if he was female then decided otherwise. He cleared his throat, then put on his best smile.

"Are you Yutaka Watari?" He asked politely.

Watari grinned at the man when he walked in. He always enjoyed the company of other scientists, since they could deal with his random strings of babbling words far better than most other people he'd met.

"Call me Watari. Everyone does. So you must be William Birkin." He absently petted 003 as she hooted softly, seeming curious about this visitor.

"That I am. You may call me William if you'd like." William said. He felt like being generous today. After all the man was going to show him something spectacular. He looked at the bird in his lap and smiled gently.

"Is she one of them?"

"This is 003. She arrived here with me and she's been with me as long as I can remember." Well, she'd been with him since some point after his death, but there wasn't much point in going into that subject right now.

He quickly redid the ribbon holding his hair back, mostly out of habit and fear that it was about to slide down too far.

"My other birds are in cages in my room right now. I didn't think I needed to stress them out with a new lab tonight," he explained.

Tsuzuki hadn't wasted any time. When he had heard Watari say he'd draw him REAL snacks, how could he have refused? Hisoka would understand! He nearly skipped as he entered the lap, and it really wasn't hard to find the blond. Especially not with the three birds around.

He was a bit curious as to how Watari'd keep his little penguin fed and cold, but maybe the scientist had figured that out?

"WATARI!?? Best friend in the whole world!" He bounced up to the scientist, if he had a tail, it'd be wagging!

After his other visitors had left, Watari quickly went to his room and let 001 and 002 out of their cages. They'd be fine with him now that it was just going to be Tsuzuki coming to see him instead of strangers that might have bizarre interests in the birds. Of course, the very fact that they'd existed in the world of the dead meant that they weren't normal at all. They were as dead as any of its inhabitants were.

Being technically dead meant that 002 could be fine without the cold he would have required had he been a living bird. It also meant that nobody had to worry about bird mess randomly ruining an important report.

Seeing Tsuzuki come in made him smile broadly. "This is the happiest you've been since you showed up here," he teased.

"No it's not." He said matter of factly before stealing a chair and throwing himself into it. "You should have seen me when the council finally okay'd me living with Hisoka." He gave a large smile and reached down to pet the penguin on the floor. The birds, made this place feel even more like home. Even if it wasn't their home. Yet.

"I believe, I was promised sugary sweets?"

Watari watched Tsuzuki sit down and beamed at him. "Are you sure you were only happy about that because it means you can keep an eye on him?" He enjoyed teasing the two of them because they really were great together, as partners and as friends.

He grabbed a tray of cookies that he'd drawn after hearing that Tsuzuki would be coming over and held it out for him. "Here you go!"
