Sylar was used to a lot of things. Abilities, killing, hell, even waking up in an apocalyptic wasteland hadn't phased him too badly. However, he was very certain that his roommate didn't have an ability, which ruled out shapeshifting entirely, which meant it had to be someone else's doing.

He would have been developing a headache, if it hadn't been for the fact that he had a healing ability now. No, instead he was left with just frustration, annoyance, and hunger.

Not for food, of course, but an ability of this scale was...very tempting. The fact that it was on board the ship was also something he found he coveted.

Matt was, of course, very puppylike at the moment, and he had to remind himself to keep calm. Keep. Calm.

"Yes," he said, heading to the door and hitting the switch to open it. "Lets go see if there's something for you to eat."

Matt nearly bounded out the room, but he froze when he was right out in the hallway. There were so many strange new smells everywhere. He barely knew what scents meant what yet. Not that he particularly cared to stay like this long enough to figure them all out. It was all so overwhelming.

So for a moment Matt stood in the doorway, tail between his legs. He tried to focus on something familiar. There was one scent he recognized from the room--after a second he realized that it was him, or at least his human self. That was disconcerting at the same time as it was comforting. He knew, logically, that he knew where he was going. But for some reason it felt better now that he could... well, smell his way around.

"O-okay," he mumbled, mostly to himself as he forced himself to walk in the direction of the lifts.

Sylar watched his roommate bound out of the room, before tipping his head, and reaching to close the door behind them. This was...beyond strange.

"What does it smell like?" he asked, looking down at his roommate curiously. He could probably hear better than his roommate even now, but he would never be able to smell as well as him.

Not that he would particularly want to, but he was curious, for the time being.

"Like everything," Matt said immediately. He couldn't really put it into words. And that was just the first thing to pop into his mind. He was slowly trying to sort the scents out in his mind. It wasn't that hard to focus on one, but there were just so many, everywhere. He kept wanting to wander off and see where a particularly interesting one would lead.

Instead he stuck by Sylar's side and kept heading toward the lifts. "Everything smells. But it doesn't mix together. I think I could tell what came from who, and when it was, and everything else. I just don't know how. It-" Matt cocked his head to the side, thinking about it for a moment. "It's like reading. You can see all the words and letters, but you don't really know what it means until you learn it."

Sylar nodded. He could certainly understand that. "Its just like listening," he said, a slight smirk crossing his face. "Until you can learn to sort through all the sounds, its a rush of information," he stated simply.

Hm, he wondered what it would be like to smell.

No, it would be a very superfluous ability. One that wouldn't have enough practical applications to even contemplate, if he were even to find someone who could. If he was going to risk everything, he would waste it on something far more satisfying.
