DATE: Day 56 CHARACTER(S): Tsuzuki/puppylikesweets, Hisoka/thosecoldeyes STATUS: Complete SUMMARY: Tsuzuki and Hisoka really need to work out a few things. LOCATION: Cabin 109 and the hall just outside.
Tsuzuki first noticed the cold. It wasn't much, cause the bed was still warm. But the warmth next to him had vanished. He blinked open his eyes and rubbed at them for a moment before finally glancing over at the spot
( ... )
Completely fine was a relative term. He'd felt it rather than heard it, first on the edges of his senses, but then it built steadily. He didn't even have a chance to get up, to burst into their room and tell Tsuzuki to cut it out; the door slammed open abruptly and he was there.
He'd been in an absolute panic. For him.
"Tsuzuki..." the blond murmured, voice oddly hushed and eyes a little bit wide. His hand was up and held out in the space just between them, like he'd started to reach for Tsuzuki before he hesitated. There was a heartbeat's pause before he dropped his hand down in his lap instead of bridging the gap between them.
It took a second to school his expression and his voice into something less vulnerable, asking even if he already knew the answer, "What?"
"You.." Tsuzuki hung his head, as he felt his eyes fill up with relieved tears. He looked back up at Hisoka, and wiped at his eyes. "I was scared!" He shook his head and moved closer to the younger man. All his panic was subsiding, but he still had to make sure. He reached out his hand towards the boy, inching closer as he reached.
"I thought, maybe Muraki... I thought he had come in the middle of the night. Stolen you f... Stolen you away." He blushes just slightly before shaking it off. He took a deep breath and settled next to Hisoka. "You could have left me a note."
Hisoka didn't quite flinch when his partner spoke; he was far too aware that was a valid fear, and hated it. He couldn't meet the other shinigami's eyes, looking down at his book without even really seeing it. Tsuzuki was always there, protecting him.
It really wasn't fair at all that he couldn't do the same.
"The one time you get up early..." he grumbled but trailed off, and it was almost like a begrudging apology that he couldn't put into words. He shifted a little abruptly as Tsuzuki was reaching out to him--no one else was in the hall, it was just them right now--leaning flush against his partner's side.
Tsuzuki nearly beamed as Hisoka leaned into him. It wasn't a worded apology, but it worked. Especially with Hisoka, who rarely touched anyone. He wrapped an arm around him for a moment just to hug him, and then pulled his arm back just leaning into the younger man.
"I got cold, and when I turned over, you were gone. I got scared." He shook his head. "Maybe next time you can just read in bed?" He tried to give a small smile, but he really wasn't feeling it. Hisoka has scared him, because the younger wanted some alone time. That's what this was about. Tsuzuki had been with him nearly every moment, since he arrived. He sighed. "I'll try to give you more space, but with Muraki around... I don't think it can be much."

That was the apology, and a wordless reassurance.
