DATE: Day 32 CHARACTER(S): Mail "Matt" Jeevas binary_addict ; Riku midwaytodawn STATUS: Closed / Complete SUMMARY: Matt and Riku investigate the strange disappearances. LOCATION: Control center in the police HQ
Matt hadn't even realized he was being followed until Riku stood right next to him. How had that happened? Not that Matt had been practicing how to lose a tail, but he thought he was a bit more observant than that.
He did notice Riku reaching to the handheld, and shifted it out the way. "Hey, you can ask," Matt said, though he then showed Riku the screen: Metal Gear, on an emulator he'd designed. He wasn't expecting Riku to drag him inside next. "Alright, alright," he complained.
But Matt forgot his annoyance as soon as they were inside the control room. He closed his game and went over to the nearest computer console. On the main computer, he pulled up a list of protocols for the cameras. "I'm going to set it up so I can access this with my computer," he told Riku. It was something he'd been planning to do since the first spate of disappearances and just hadn't had the time for.
Matt just nodded. If anyone found out about it, he would take the fall. He linked the main computer to his handheld and started the download.
"Yeah, but no one's opened the airlocks in about a month," Matt said, shaking his head.
"I downloaded some files the last few times I was in here for maintenance," he said. "All completely random, of course. But I did see something weird." He pulled up that file on another monitor. It was one of the hallway cameras. Matt fast-forwarded through the file until it showed a tall young man with dark brown hair. His eyes were hidden by his scruffy hair, and he walked with an awkward, stiff-limbed gait. "Records show that's Sam Winchester, reported missing the day after this was taped," Matt noted.
