Near was so annoyed he could practically growl. While being stuck in a child's cow costume was slightly preferred to being changed into a female, he was quite annoyed by the inconvenience. He frowned, huddled in a small ball in one corner of his couch, nearly clutching his soft pajamas to his tiny frame as he twirled a finger in his hair, staring at a few files he'd accessed on the police line.

He knew he really shouldn't trouble himself over it, but... it was still so strange to think that he'd watched Matt and Mello die... then seen at least Matt in this place... then heard of his death again, and now he was back as though nothing had ever happened. Alive. And L had been here too...

His attention was drawn suddenly by a knock upon his door. His brows furrowed in confusion. He wasn't expecting anyone...

"Yes? Who's there?" He called, putting the files away and standing to head to the door. It could be Matt, or maybe Roxas? He stood on the other side of his closed door, awaiting an answer.

There was no sense in denying it. Katze knew he would probably go down for this. But at least it was something to do and at least he would know then. He'd expected the door to simply open, but he should have known. Near didn't seem the type to be brash.

"It's Katze. I need to speak with you, if you have a moment." No lies. He would speak to Near. "I'm sorry to disturb you." His voice was calm, as mild as it normally was. Fingertips drummed against his leg. Funny how simply being denied entry for a moment made him feel like a criminal.

Ah, yes. Katze. Near remembered having spoken with him previously. He was the one who wasn't much fond of police members and believed that albinos had short life spans and were frail and some other such things. Such facts were true sometimes, but not for all albinos.

Still, Near wouldn't hold any of that against Katze. Things were obviously different in Katze's home than what Near was used to. He sighed, nodding even though Katze couldn't see just yet.

"Certainly. You're not disturbing me at all, Katze. What do you need to speak with me about?" He asked, opening his door to invite the man inside.

The door opened. Katze stared at Near for a moment. He was considerably taller than the other, but he'd already predicted that. Near was small and pale and...very much alive. Katze tried to estimate an age. He spoke like someone much older but his body seemed to hint at fewer years.

"I just needed to look at you," Katze explained. He pulled out the pillow case and, in a smooth motion, jerked it over Near's head. A lifetime of handling Pets kept him careful and he wasn't trying to hurt the albino, quite the opposite in fact. He yanked the cotton over most of Near's body, bracing himself for a struggle.

Near rose an eyebrow at the taller man who just stood there in his doorway a moment staring at him. He licked his lips, a socked foot moving to rub against his other foot as he waited. Normally, he wouldn't care much whether one was silent or not, but the staring was making him irritable. He was just about to make a comment when Katze finally spoke.

Now it was Near who stared blankly at the other. He needed to look at him? What in the-? "Katze, I understand that albinos are rare where you're from, but if you're going to come knocking at my door at odd hours just to look at me ( ... )
