Sam hadn't been entirely sure why he had built the pyramid court. Part of him assumed it was to prevent him from losing it, another, to regain some sense of normalacy in his life, and the third to possibly meet some of his shipmates. He hadn't been the most social person, so this was a good chance, and it looked as though it had worked.

He was a bit surprised by the other man's appearence. Blue skin was not something he was used to, but at the same time, he seemed like a decent guy who was willing to learn. He wasn't a sentient fruit juicer or anything like that.

"Same here," Sam paused. "Sorry, I don't think I got your name." He shook the hand anyway.

[OOC: I'm not usually this inconsistent, promise.]

"Kurt Wagner. Please, call me Kurt." He twirled his tail and chuckled. His appearance no longer bothered him as it once had when he was younger, still learning that he was a mutant and that this was not necessarily a bad thing. And the inhabitants of the Pluto had proved surprisingly -- or not-so-surprisingly, considering who else he'd met here so far -- tolerant of his strange features.

"So, this game." He reached out to run a three-fingered hand over the smooth wood of one of the structures. "You shoot to score, ja? What other rules are there?"

"Pretty much," Sam said, "Although, you can't take more than steps with the ball, without doing something with it. Either passing it, shooting, or rebounding it off the structures."

He indicated a few lines on the ground, in the corners and the centre, "Those are neutral zones. If the ball's in there, the other player has to back off. Once the ball's not in the neutral zone, full contact is allowed to stop whoever has the ball. You get tackled, you have to pass, or in this case, the ball's turned over to the other player. Person with the most points at the end win."

A pretty simple game, in theory. It got a lot tougher when there were more people on the court.

"It sounds like it might get pretty rough." Not that he minded. Couldn't be worse than playing tag with Wolverine back home, anyway.

Kurt took a step on the court, testing the ground, how good a grip he could get. It was concrete, solid, smooth and warm under his feet. He ran his eyes over the court, his muscles tensing in expectation as he pictured the gameplay in his head: dart, pause, leap, score. A small court, but that was not a problem. Would be a test of agility and speed.

Looking back at Sam, he grinned. "What's the ball like?"
