Well, I wasn't expecting Rowley's vet visit to cost $328. Angell Memorial is wonderful in the care they give, but I had estimated somewhat less (and that's what I get for not asking). Luckily, I still hadn't spent most of my work bonus, so the funds were there. The doctor assigned to us (we don't have a regular one, but it seems they're all good at Angell) was wonderful and very thorough.
The diagnosis is that his extreme weight loss is due to kidney disease. It's not the end of the world for him. He's being put on a new low-protein diet, and they're going to train me and
beowabbit to give him sub-cutaneous hydration. Rowley is an old geezer, so this is actually better news than it could have been.
My
beowabbit drove us there, and he is the very best partner and cat papa in the entire universe. He was right there at our side the whole time, giving support and love. Words can't describe how much I love him. Ceiling Cat was also watching over all of us, from the vantage point of the T-shirt
beowabbit gave me.
These things are true for today:
*I have some yard work to do
*I'm going to have to accept the fine for filing taxes late, and should do it today
*It's very hot in this 3rd floor apartment
*Giant bumble bees the size of almonds have taken up residence somewhere near my balcony
*I wish breakfast would make itself
*I greatly enjoyed The Winter's Tale on Friday, but had no business going to see live theatre while still suffering residual cough from my cold (sorry, guys).
*It's time to get my day started
