Lovely.

Your middle summers sound like mine. I remember watching old Casper the ghost cartoons in the early, cool dim hours before my mother woke up, in the days before organized activities.

Hey, nice post. I remember that period when asking people to "play" suddenly started to seem weird.

OK, I just wrote 3 paragraphs of my own summer reminiscences in this box. Rather than hijack your journal, I think I will post them in my own journal.

I spent days picking berries and riding my bike to the woods near our house searching for Bigfoot tracks. At night, I would stare at the sky looking for UFOs. I would find places where no one could hear me, and I would yell the word SHAZAM! at the top of my lungs hoping to turn into Captain Marvel. I turned a tool shed into a haunted house. I would listen to American Top 40 on the radio outdoors because I thought music sounded better outdoors because Woodstock took place outdoors. I was so boy.
