Oh Obama! and really, McCain?

Aug 29, 2008 09:01

Obama's historic speech last night was absolutely fabulous, hitting all the right notes, putting specifics to his promises. And as to the question of Hillary supporters backing him, I think he answered those questions in trumps last night. To my mind, there should not be any more hold outs, but I suppose die-hards and those who refuse to admit ( Read more... )

AMEN, sister. The Palin choice seems absurd to me. (And yes, I'm a sick political junkie who is following an election she won't even take part of). Obama's speech, however, was wonderful. I was a fan before, but boy, I'm sure he won a lot of people over with that.

Did you see Palin's speech just now? Wow. Not Impressed. And mentioning Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary at the end there? Talk about desperation.

OMG I wanted to CRY. I missed Obama's speech last nice but saw the debacle this morning. As soon as they said "his historic announcement" I thought "oh hell no, he'd better not just pick a girl". And he did.

AND ALASKA! OMG!! Sad thing is, I am sure that this is going to get a lot of women going for McCain again, blindly following the double X. They WILL overturn Roe v. Wade. And drilling in the Alaskan Preserve is pretty much guaranteed if they are elected. The whole entire thing just wreaked of desperation, pandering to the lowest common denominators. It was just disgusting and it seriously made me want to cry for the first time over these stupid politics.

I think that the people smart enough to vote for Obama can see right through all the BS that they put on today. The McSame supporters on the other hand just got injected with new life. I haven't been this scared about the election EVER.

Mm. I want poll numbers NOW dammit! I seriously see this hurting McCain's bid. But, like you said, if die-hards follow the double X blindly and overlook EVERYTHING McCain plans for this country, expecting it to be an improvement over Dubya .... *shudders* I *really* hope they paid attention to what the Dems (not just Obama) were saying this whole week. O_O

Thing is, the timing of this is perfect for McCain. Steal Obama's thunder in the press and America's mind. *sigh*

S'ok. At least it seems that quite a number of women are feeling insulted that McCain picked a woman, obviously pandering and thinking that plunking in anyone in a skirt (or pantsuit) will turn women's heads.

*clings* I will probably be online to help with electoral vote tracking.

*shakes head in disbelief and stomps foot in moral outrage over Palin*

As a political junkie...and hopefully future delegate...I am totally LOVING this! McCain is SUCH a bonehead!

Jeezus...what a HORRIBLE Veep pick!

Biden will cream her (except he's a gentleman).

We are in such good shape now!

Ugh, I totally forgot to TiVo it last night. :/ I'll have to catch the highlights on The Daily Show lol.

As far as Sarah Palin, as I just commented on Star's LJ - ugh. I'm totally disgusted by this. But yes, agree that he shot himself in his own foot my selecting her. They were seriously desperate.

Link's up in the post if you want to watch it in full (which I highly recommend; it's a FAB speech).

Good news: the Beeb election coverage is pretty reasonable actually; and it might be nice to get some real unbiased coverage rather than some of the histrionics you get on US TV networks... (then again, you might not see it like that if it's actually your country; they cover it about as well as they do the UK general elections but those aren't as emotive for us as the US elections seem to be for you guys).
