*grin* I wrote fic where Ronon owned the coffeeshop and taught demolition at the police academy, and Rodney was the world's worst barista, but I only posted it in my LJ, to avoid further wank.

But you make a valid point. If you're unhappy with the way fandom views a character, write fic with a better view. Flaming people for their views does nothing good for fandom at all.

This is me wordily agreeing with you. :)

Oh, yeah. I think that was the last fic I rad before I passed out last night- which is why I don't think I commented. But it so was fun.

It's just common sense, ya know? And that's why all this meta/wank is so getting old after the first twelve hours.

You don't know me but I just have to say I agree with you whole heartedly which is why I usually lurk in this fandom. Its sad when the lurkers get hit by this too.

Ah, see? This is precisely why I don't subscribe to/belong to the SGA comms or groups. I have a few flisters who write SGA and when they post their fic, I'll read IT (or the fic a SELECT FEW rec).

And ALL of the SGA I write is AU because it's NOT SGA, per se...but sg_15, which depends almost completely on fanon (there are fics that reference SG-1 or SGA eps, but it's not the focus of the story--and Dixon's wife is conveniently "gone").

And I agree with you completely: If someone wants to see the characters portrayed differently then THEY should write it that way. That is why I changed Sam into a less obnoxiously science-spouting sex kitten.

Seriously, the meta for SGA is typically pretty good stuff on writing styles, history, & every once in a while physics. The meta-ers are smart people & reading a dissection of a fic is fun for me. But suddenly my smart people are doing something very stupid & just like the proverbial guy who can't see the forest for the trees, they are seeing only the details & not looking at the big picture.

& I like your Sam, but I love your Dixon even more. SG15 is such a wonderful AU. I need to re-read it all again.

I have been irritated by this whole wank since its ugly head showed up all over my flist. I have about half a dozen tabs with race meta opened up, but I don't think I'll read any of them now.

This "back button" that you speak of, there should be icons. It's times like this that I wish I had the graphics gene.

I know I'm not the only one getting tired of seeing this huge wank-fest that isn't doing anything but making everyone angry or hurting all the wrong folks, but those of us who just want it to stop are not the loudest voice right now.
