Hide the spoons...

Who: Adora Cain
When: around lunchtime
Where: outside the hotel (and hopefully to medical attention)
What: Adora's arrival [COMPLETE]

His fingers were tightening around her neck and she was losing feeling in her arms. Adora's whole body swayed and Zero's body shifted, as if he was simply picking her up off the ground. As much as she wanted to fight back, Adora knew she was going to lose this battle. There was a part of her that hoped he would let go, leaving her to gasp for air and have to crawl away, so that he could chase after her again and...

On the other hand, Adora knew that she'd rather be dead than give Zero the satisfaction of having his way with her. Though, with the look in his eyes, she wasn't entirely sure that being dead would stop him. It was getting harder to breath, and she didn't have the strength to reach up and pry at his fingers. As her eyelids started to droop, and she knew the end was near, Adora felt like the ground was shifting under her feet.

'Jeb...'

The pressure from Zero’s hands was gone and she was falling. Time seemed to slow down as she fell to the ground, and Adora wondered if she would feel the contact before she died. A second later, Adora's head and back made contact with a solid surface and she let out something between a groan and a gasp.

The ground was warm, and even with her eyes squeezed shut, she'd never seen such light. Breathing deeply, Adora cried out - though it sounded more like a high squeak - as she rolled onto her side, gasping as a sharp pain shot from her wrist up to her shoulder. More sharp pains shot through every bit of her body.

She was dead, she had to be.

But, if she was dead, Adora realized, she wouldn't be able to feel so much pain.

It took some more deep, painful breaths for Adora to get to her knees, and her hands were planted firmly against the ground as she waited for everything to stop spinning. She had barely opened her eyes before squeezing them shut again; the light was beyond anything she'd ever seen. Her cheeks were on fire; her jaw ached; her wrist was probably broken; she couldn't get any air; and whether it was from the stress of her capture or the nausea from being strangled, Adora wanted to throw up.

Slowly, Adora opened her eyes again and winced as she looked around. Great Gale, it was bright. Bright and... empty. After a few moments, her eyes opened a bit wider and Adora could see that there was really nothing. She managed to get to her feet, and noticed that while she felt cold, the air was warm. Curling her injured arm against her side and reaching up to place a hand against her chest, Adora slowly turned.

This was nothing like the stories of the Grey Gale.

As she completed the circle, Adora realized that there was something there - wherever there was - because she could see a large building. It didn't look like any building she had ever seen, and something about the look of the place told her to go the other way. Turning back, Adora looked behind her, feeling the sense of someone... something... watching her. Forcing a swallow, Adora continued to hold at her throat and looked back toward the building in the distance.

She stumbled forward a bit, hoping she wouldn't fall flat on her face, and Adora slowly started moving in the direction of the building.
