Who: Peter Pan and Open Where: Carnival!! When: A few days after his introduction to the hotel. What: He's 10... he's found cotton candy and roller coasters...
It was only from the complete lack of things to do, and just a tiny bit of curiosity, that the noises of the carnival managed to lure Billy outside. There was only so much time he could spend with a bedridden girl, and that time seemed to have come too quickly.
It was better than spending the time alone in his room, Billy tried to ration, though he knew that wasn't true. He liked being alone, in his room, but what he wanted right now was a distraction.
Giant roller coasters and scheming dollar games seemed the way to go. Though really, he thought as he stared up at the roller coaster, its cart rattling as it whooshed past him and its foundations rattled, there was no way anyone was getting him on that thing.
When the coaster stopped, Peter stayed right where he was, like he had for the past eight rides. But a man told him he had to move.
"NO I won't get off the ride. I WAS HERE FIRST!"
The gentleman tried to explain how other people wanted the seat and he couldn't let the boy keep it all day. But Peter still resisted. Why did adults always tell him what to do? Finally, the man threatened him and Peter had little choice but to obey. He'd left his sword up in his room, and the knife had disappeared as well.
He stomped off the ride. "Well you're just a stupid adult anyway!" he called back as he searched for something else to do.
There was some sort of commotion going on at the entrance to the ride and Billy ambled over- if he gave in to his curiosity and got himself here in the first place, Billy figured he might as well keep on with the theme. But it had calmed by the time he reached the line up banisters- then he saw a kid stomping toward him.
A kid? What was a kid doing here?
And yes, he was a kid, considering he was half Billy's size. But still! A kid!
Billy stared at the boy, like he wasn't sure he was real.
Peter continued walking. He didn't notice the stares he was getting from curious onlookers. It was unusual for a kid to be running around dressed in leaves and vines... but Peter didn't know that. He was too busy figuring out how to get back on the ride when he bumped into someone else.
"OW!" he shouted as he brought his hands up to his still sore nose. A reminder that he couldn't fly here.
"Hey!" Billy shouted, waving the cotton candy as he backed off the steps, somehow managing to land on his feet. "That's not nice!" he protested; the kid had barely grazed him, and while he wasn't nearly as threatening as a car hurling through the air at him... the thought behind it stung.
"See if I give you candy or show you my ray gun," he said petulantly.
"And you're thick enough to be a mini-Captain Douche Tool," Billy retorted moodily, not really understanding the boy's insult, but knowing it was supposed to be one, "Like one of those little hammer's that don't actually do anything!"
"How can you could kill anyone," Billy snorted, waving a cotton candy stick at him.
"Swords are pointy. Knives slit throats. And I'm sneaky too. Sometimes I kill people in their sleep... other times while there awake."
Now, out of any normal kid, this would be mildly entertaining. Like a kid playing a game. Coming from Peter... it's just creepy. His face clearly shows he's not lying.
"I fed Hook's hand to a crocodile. Oh does he hate me now!"
