Who: Owen Harper Where: Medical Bay When: Afternoon, two days after this What: It takes Owen rather longer than he expected after leaving Elphie to finally find the medical unit.
Kaylee was in a great mood, even the crazy mistaken identity that caused the fight between Xander and Mal couldn't bring her down. Wanting to share her bright mood, she decided go see Owen and after a bit of searching finally tracked him down in the infirmary.
The sound of Kaylee's voice made Owen lean back on his heels, so he was clear of the lower cupboard. "Knee what?" He asked, thinking he'd misheard her, then saw how happy she looked.
Standing up, he took the gloves off and dumped them on the counter top. "What's happened?" He asked, glad to see her so cheerful.
"Just thought... you sounded really happy and I wondered why, that's all," he replied, shrugging.
Leaning against the cupboard, he folded his arms across his chest, then attempted to look like he would if he knew her really well, which he did (sort of), smiled, then realised maybe he shouldn't and reduced it a bit.
Jesus this was awkward, he was bloody awful at reading people he didn't know!
Looking through the doorway that led to a stairwell that she had never seen before. Glancing over at Owen her brow furrowed in confusion and curiosity, "Do you smell... horses?"
Just as Kaylee mentioned the smell, he noticed it too, wrinkling his nose, he shrugged. "No bloody idea, smells like a farmyard to me." As far as Owen was concerned, anything vaguely agricultural qualified as farmyard, he didn't usually bother attempting to classify exactly what it was.
Great! So not only had the Hotel suddenly gone mad with a roof garden and a conservatory, it had decided in its infinite wisdom to throw in a farmyard as well. If this kept up, he was going to start believing this place really had got it in for him. Grass all over the place and now this.
"I do," she confirmed, already heading down the mystery stairs. "Back home we all had horses when I was growin' up. Out on the Rim most folks still use them as a primary mode of transport," she explained. "Do you know how to ride?"
"What? A Horse?" He blurted out, before he could stop himself. Pausing on the stairs, he tried to think of something positive to say about horses. the only thing he could think of was one end kicks, the other end bites and keep away from the front end or you get bruised toes. "Not really," he mumbled, then moved to catch her up.

"You like horses?" he asked, warily.
