"I dunno," Kaylee called, her voice sounding far away since she was currently mostly under the bed, trying to find the mate to the flip flop that she had on one of her exposed feet. "Is there anything we haven't done in a while?"

Xander paused and shrugged (not that the motion meant anything, since Kaylee was under the bed but it was a habit). "Well, we haven't tried finding a way out of here recently. Not that it'd really do us any good, but.. you asked."

Mal woke up and looked around, confused for a few minutes. This was not his bunk... and this was not his ship. Then the day before came rushing into his head. "Yī gēn gùnzi shàng lā shǐ!" he swore. He got up and found his things. He figured a bite to eat wouldn't hurt, then maybe he'd go find Kaylee.

About an hour later, he knocked on the door with the number Kaylee had professed to be her room number. Maybe she could show him around today... that sounded like a good idea.

"Xan, can you git that?" Kaylee asked when she heard the knocking on her door, since she was currently wedged between the box of parts she had shoved under the bed and the wall.

"Cutest thing I've ever seen," Kaylee agreed. "So you can take the time to learn a fake language, but Chinese is just much?" she continued her good natured ribbing of her friend.

"I learned Elvish when I was younger! And.. you know, they say it's easier to learn languages when you're growing up instead of when you're already old." He said, defending himself to Kaylee, before turning to Mal.

"Erm.. Elvish is a ...made up language for fantasy stories. Very very old race, pointy ears, kind of in tune with nature." He realized how sad it sounded when he said it outloud like that.

"Pointy ears... I see." He gave Kaylee a look that plainly said You sure know how to pick them.

"So Xander, how long have you been in this place?" he asked turning back to the man.

Kaylee just shrugged at the look Mal gave her, she adored Xander, but she really didn't have an answer for that one.

Back on her feet she walked over to her baby and pulled off the tarp she had started using to cover it now that the garage had started to become a high traffic area.

"She may not look like much now, but once I get the body work and paint job done, she's going to be a right pretty little thing," she said with a grin. "Go ahead, hop on and start her up," she urged, proud that she ran and well, considering what she had at her disposal to put the skiff together.

"She does like showing off her shiny things." He said, offhandedly. Yes, he was teasing Kay, but he knew she wouldn't mind. Besides, she was very much so giddy with the appearance of her captain.

Mal looked at the contraption with awe. "Kaylee... you really have outdone yourself," he said with obvious pride in his voice.

He stepped atop. "This thing won't blow up on me now will it?" he asked jokingly. He had complete trust in his mechanic. There's a reason Serenity was still flying.

Kaylee stuck her tongue out at Xander, like he was on to talk when it came to the use of the English language.

"Shénme? Dìyù bù, tā bù huì nòng zāng nǐ le!" she said with faux shocked indignation, knowing he was just teasing. "Course I ain't done a real road test yet so we'll have to wait and see," she admitted with a shameless shrug and grin.

"Yes, strawberries," Kaylee echoed dreamily as she bent over to admire some blue hydrangeas.

"Sometimes I like to just sit a spell by the waterfall," she mentioned. "If you sorta squint your eyes some, you can convince yourself your somewhere not here."

Xander smiled a bit at the conversation about fresh fruit that the Captain and Kaylee were having. He knew it was rare for them to get real food like that in space (since Kaylee had told him stories), but it was weird to think about not having fresh fruit or meat.

"Heh.. being somewhere not here. That'd be nice." Not that he didn't mind the company, but he was always aware that he was being held against his will in some sort of pocket dimension, or whatever it was.

Mal squinted as she asked. "Yep. You can just sort of think you're in Inara's woodsy place when you squint." He grinned and took another big whiff of the plants.

OOC Do we have a plan at all of where this is going to go?
