Jareth walked into the cinema to see a film already underway, turning suddenly from black and white to colour.

He glanced around in the dimly lit room to see if anyone else was there, and was delighted to see the young girl, Dawn.

He sat down beside her. "Was this film plucked from your mind, my dear?" he asked.

Dawn was startled when she realized that she was no longer alone, having been so absorbed in the classic film that she didn't notice anyone come in.

"What? Oh, hi, long time no see," she greeted when she noticed who had joined her. "What about the movie?" she asked.

"I don't recognize it," Jareth clarified. "The hotel must have taken the idea to show it from you." He gestured towards the screen. "A favourite of yours?"

"Mhmmm," Dawn nodded. "The Wizard of Oz. It's a classic."

"It's about a teenage girl from Kansas who's house gets sucked up in a tornado and gets transported to a magical land and she has to get to Oz to see the Wizard about getting home, but there is a Wicked Witch who's trying to kill her because Dorothy's house fell on her sister and then.... Well there's a bunch of stuff that happens, but the whole movie is basically about her journey in trying to get home," Dawn explained as the Munchkins sang their joy of the death of the wicked witch of the west.

Jareth could see she was trying to concentrate on the film and fell quiet.

It was, he supposed, something of a charming story, though he wasn't particularly partial to such stories, except for the way that he mimicked them in his challenges to the sorts of girls who read them then attempted to cheat him.

Dawn continued to watch the movie in silence as Dorothy continued down the yellow brick road picking up her three companions on her journey.

"They weren't ruby slippers in the book," she piped up randomly, as if there wasn't a huge gap in the conversation. "They were silver, but this was one of the first movies that really took advantage of technicolor and the producers felt that the red shoes would make a bigger impact on screen. Also Dorothy's shirt is also a pale pink because the white filmed too bright in technicolor."

"Is that so?" Jareth said. She was certainly well-informed, but he knew her to be highly intelligent among her other charms. "And have you read the book?" he asked.

"Mhmmm, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum," she confirmed. "I read it a couple years ago. It's different though, darker. Also they cut a lot of details and scenes which I mean, I guess they had to, to make it a two hour movie, and change some stuff around. In the book Oz a real place that she goes back to in the sequels, not a dream like in the movie. And Dorothy is never the damsel in distress, she's the one that's usually saving her friends in the book."

"I rather enjoy mine, actually," Jareth remarked. "But well put."

"Speaking of unsavory reputations," Dawn said looking up at the Goblin King with curiosity alit in her eyes. "Whatever happened with the glass thowing chick?"

"I do not know," Jareth said plainly. "I attempted to speak to her about her behaviour, but she was not receptive. I have not seen her since."

"Maybe thats for the best," Dawn shrugged, not really loosing sleep over it either way. "She seemed seriously with the unstable."
