Xander scribbled out a brief note to leave on his bed for a certain vampire slayer. Out digging up graves in front of the hotel. If I don't return, blame the alien named Gul Dukat. Okay, so that note was about 50% letting Faith know if she came over to hang out why he wasn't around, and the other 50% was insurance in case Gul Dukat's final plan was to leave him in the bottom of one of those graves.

It wasn't that he didn't trust the alien. ..well, okay he didn't trust Dukat, but that was because he'd only spoken to him between 2 private messages. No, he trusted Jack enough to not put him in too much danger (which, came from what? One night of drunkenly talking to him ( ... )

Dukat watched the door open in reflection and caught his first glimpse of the man in the same way. The eye patch instantly caught his attention, something that would relegate a Cardassian to the most menial of occupations on the home world, no matter family connection or education. He made completely certain that his expression would reflect none of his thoughts before pivoting neatly, tilting his head slightly, and saying, "Mister Harris, thank you for coming. We're waiting for one other." He strode from his stance at the window to take a seat in one of the comfortable lounge chairs, gesturing for the man to do the same.

"Xander is fine, actually. Mister Harris.." He paused, not wanting to make the usual crack about Mr. Harris being his father. "Makes me feel old, and I'm not that far along. Yet." Although, considering his world, he'd probably had his midlife crisis when he met Buffy in the first place. "And who else are we waiting for?" He asked, trying to figure out if he knew their other grave digging buddy.

"As you wish," the gul said. "Informality does not come easily to me, but I have no desire to make you uncomfortable. The human view on age is...an interesting one." He leaned back in the chair and spread an arm, making himself more comfortable. "We're waiting for Kate Austen. While we're doing so, we should get better acquainted. I'd prefer to save the reason I asked for your help until she arrives. It's more efficient. Perhaps you could tell me what interested you in this endeavor." He kept his focus on Xander's eye, his own eyes unblinking.

Kate looked at Xander, a bit puzzled by his outburst. "I've seen a lot of worst-that-can-happens," she began, gently. "And it's never happened just because someone said it aloud."

"I don't believe in fate," Dukat said simply, shaking his head once. He had very little patience for superstition. "Perhaps we should reconvene in the lobby after I contact Mister Winchester over the network. It will be easiest to find one another there. I'll either have him come meet us or know that we need to look for shovels if I receive no response."

And the point that these people didn't get him was just getting driven further and further home. Oh well, he'd just try to be as quiet as possible, or at least somewhat less neurotic. "..oh. Well, different worlds and all. I'll just.. yeah. Over here."

He looked over at Dukat and nodded. "The lobby! Sounds great. I'll meet the two of you there. You know.. and hope it doesn't take him that long to get back to us, since he might not be at his computer." He said, ready to get this gravedigging show on the road.

Kate nodded at Dukat's suggestion. "That works for me," she agreed. However, she, too, was eager to just get going with this whole deal. "Maybe we should look for shovels before you contact Dean, though. No sense waiting for him to respond if we can easily find them in the attic or the basement."

Xander shook his head. "No, that doesn't sound like a hallucination.Well, okay, it could be. But what really makes it sound like it can't be fake is that he's getting things from my world, and we don't have Cardassians back in Sunnydale.. so either it's holy sweet crossover hallucination Batman, or things are really happening."

He looked over over at Kate and raised his eyebrow back at her. "What about you? What do you think?"

Kate nodded. His explanation made sense. And still...

"I think..." she began, hesitating slightly, "they can do whatever the hell they want. If they can take things from our heads, who's to say they can't give those things to others to experience?" She shook her head. "But yeah, I've only ever heard of people here having hallucinations that relate to their own lives, so..."

"You're right.. it sounds plausible that the hotel could just be doing it to screw with us." He stopped and shook his head. "And of course, this could just be something new even. But we can't even really be sure."

He put his hand on his head. "Ugh, it's hard really planning anything if you think about it, considering that this stupid hotel just likes to go all Puppet Master on us." He said, accenting the word 'stupid' with a kick to the wall.

Kate winced when he kicked the wall, but didn't otherwise react to his outburst. She certainly understood the sentiment.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Sure, I'll meet you here at this time...provided I find the damned room back...not to mention figure out what time it actually is."

The transient nature of the hotel's rooms was one of her greatest frustrations with this place. Kate had always been able to find her way. Anywhere.
