Jack was surprised that he was the first to show. He hadn't exactly rushed down, his enthusiasm for the game having waned considerably in recent days. He gave Kara a nod, sliding onto a barstool a short distance from where she sat on the bar. He made sure it was clear that he was not, in any way, her partner in this endeavour. The team was hers.

The bartender put a beer in front of him and he took a sip.

Pam was the second of the team to arrive at the bar, looking far more put together in her tailored grey wool trousers, mint green silk blouse and coordinating snakeskin pumps, then anyone at a meeting about naked rugby had any right to be.

Striding confidently over to the bar she picked up the cotton candy cosmo the bartender had already set in front of a stool. She wasn't much of a drinker, but it was pink, so she made an exception. At least it wasn't blood this time. She glanced at the other two occupants of the bar, not knowing either of them, although that was hardly surprising as she hadn’t exactly made an effort to socialize with others. Hardly giving the man a second glance she turned to the woman, recognizing her from the network.

"I assume you are the one that organized this little get together," she asked the other woman, with her patented disinterested droll.

"That she is," Jack piped up, looking the new arrival over. He hadn't met her before. "Nice shoes," he added before taking a sip of beer. "I'm Captain Jack Harkness and this is Captain Kara Thrace." He extended his hand. "Who might you be?"

"Yes, they are quite nice," she agreed, taking a long look at the extended hand before finally rolling her eyes and shaking it quickly. "I am Pam," she introduced herself in turn.

While Kara explained the team positions, Pam leaned over slightly towards Eric speaking just loud enough that he could hear her "Do you have any idea what she is talking about?" she asked having never so much as seen a game of rugby, let alone played it. In fact she had never really played a sport of any kind, unless war counted.

"Does somebody want to explain how the game is played?" she addressed the room at large. "Better yet, has anyone actually played this rugby?" she asked tapping her perfectly manicured nails against the lacquered bar top irritably.

Kara made a face at what she perceived to be Pam's attitude, but otherwise looked over the other woman to the man named Eric. "You said you'd played before," she recalled. "You can be our resident expert."

Handy looked up from the brace he was currently trying to strap to his leg without falling off the stool in the process. "I'm going to be wearing it during the game," he said cheekily. "So it's relative to the team meeting."

He winked at the other Doctor when they got their assignments. "I told her we'd work well together," he said to him in a stage whisper, his tone suggesting that he thought they would do anything but. "Wait until the game, at least, before you start proving me wrong."

The request for an explanation of the game was one he welcomed, wanting to know what they were going to be doing himself. Handy sat up and listened, the brace hanging half off his bare lower leg.

The Doctor nodded along with Handy. "Ideally, it'll keep him on his leg a little longer."

He nodded privately to Handy. "I tried it and it seemed fine, but wanted to make sure it wasn't hitting any tender spots or what have you." He smiled at his prediction of their skills. "Hey, I know as much as you do, and you're the one with a limp."

He quieted down to listen, having never learned how to play the game himself. When he noticed the brace hanging off, he bent down to adjust and fasten it properly, even as his eyes stayed on Kara.
