D-Wheels: I've seen them

Sep 28, 2008 00:22

So it's just a bit late to qualify for farotarday, but oh well.

Last week, I and a couple friends went to our local agricultural fair. Basically it has roller coasters, pigs, and deep fried foods at ridiculous prices. You know, standard fare.

But! While going through the exhibit lobby, I discovered...

An Extremely Blurry D-Wheel from the Extremely Blurry Future! )

The blurb was highly unhelpful in describing the future of riding duels. It just went on about how "Monowheels" aren't Unicycles, and how they've been around for, like, a hundred years or something.

From South Park. Mr Garrison invented a wheel thing like this after being fed up at high gas prices.

I know it was already a real item by the time that episode aired, but that's what I think of every time I see them. And given that his version secured the rider in by sliding a bar up their ass, it made for a very interesting experience watching that Kool-Aide commercials that have those wheels.

Oh, right. I remember seeing them in South Park, but I couldn't remember what they were called in that episode.

I think I saw part of one episode of that (while waiting for the first episode of dub 5Ds). I was SO LOST, haha.

Hahaha, awesome. This was also the third (possibly fourth?) year in a row that I've somehow managed to acquire a free ticket to said fair without even trying.

I'm glad I reminded you, though -- your picture is way better than mine.

Ah, I usually skip eating at the fair and spend my money on Skulls on Sticks or other such things. But this year there really wasn't anything interesting, so I actually didn't spend any money at the fair itself.

(I was even expecting to pay full fare! But some random woman and her husband were standing outside the line, asked if I and my friends needed tickets, and then just handed us Exhibitor tickets. It was pretty awesome!)
