Whistle Pig!

One of my fellow wildlife rehabilitators had a groundhog (aka woodchuck, aka whistle pig) she wanted to release in the park - he had been recovering from a head injury and wasn't 100% yet, but the weather's going to turn cold soon and she wanted to give him enough time to find a spot to hibernate. So we let him go on Friday, and he wandered off,

That groundhog was an impressive eater! He might not be ready for the big wide world, but he's doing his best to get ready for hibernation! Wow.

The little bits are cute! I'm sorry about the mother, I hope the little ones recover from their bad start.

He was like a dandelion-munching conveyor belt! Tonight I discovered he also really likes carrots, but he's not so much for the bananas.

All the bitlets are putting on weight and even the two dinkies finally have a crop of fur coming in, so lookin' good!

Between the critters and work heading in to peak fall craziness, it's definitely been busy, but then I read all your posts and feel like I've been lolling around like a lazybutt all day, lol.

eee! groundhog!! <3 he's so cute! and man, was he nomming those dandelion leaves like they were going out of style! poor hungry baby!

and eee! more opossums! poor mama, though. that's a hell of a way to go. and gosh Nub is cute! :D

Poor guy - I'm not sure why he wasn't finding food in the park; the field where we released him was full of all kinds of nice munchies, but he wandered off to a spot with not much at all.

Yeah, mama possum's demise was like something out of a sci-fi horror movie; I think half her body weight was probably in parasites, bleargh.

Nub has a very high cuteness factor, trufax :D *nods*

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAW! The groundhog is so cute! I think he IS ready for the outside world, he just got too used to being treated like a king to leave XD So adorable!

Poor opossums! *hugs* The first pic looks like the tail is going right through the leg! O.O Awww but at least she gets around alright.

*roffle* I was thinking the same thing, as I laid my selection of offerings before His Majesty this evening - he scorned the banana, but he really liked the carrots, and the big pile of dandelion leaves of course XD

Hee, it does look like the tail is going through her leg! That's her thumb, sticking up over the tail that makes it look that way. She managed to climb the wire sides of her cage today, all the way to the top - helps to have a prehensile tail!

Her little stump cracks me up - it stops just after the knee joint, so she's got this little end that she can wiggle ^^

LOL! Well, there's a reason I do tend to empathize with the guy :P Although my caretaking/repair tendency is mainly aimed at critters - rl sick and injured humans sort of freak me out, mainly due to my pasted on social skillz, lol *pokes sick person awkwardly* "Um, good luck with that?"
