this morning when i stepped outside, i spotted a dead chipmunk with claws curled and mouth gaping open. sometimes i think that a fascination with death is not morbid; for me, a death-fascination is as much a life-fascination. the chipmunk's eye had the appearance of clouded glass- frozen in time. i think of all the creatures who have been preserved ( Read more... )

You remind me of me.

That chipmunk is so beautiful. I remember seeing the most perfect dead cardinal and being unable to photograph it.

we are quite alike in several ways!
i am glad we're friends.

dead rodents are so uglybeautiful. when i was younger, i had gerbils that were males but then we realised one was female because there were suddenly squirmy little baby gerbils with closed eyes and pink noses. some of the litter {or are they called something else?} always died, and my mother would scoop them out with a silver spoon. and over the years, we had so many gerbils because we kept several of the offspring, and when they died, they looked so much like this chipmunk.

i like to watch decay in that sense. the earth reclaiming the body...organic. i wish for the same for my body when i am dead. for it to lie unseen by humans and left to decay naturally. i don't know if that's strange.

and yes! juggling work and...life... is pretty tricky lately. i was hoping the job would be over by now so i could start the project with my full attention. unlike many of my abandoned projects of the past, i feel genuinely motivated for this one. i think it's important.

that picture took my breath away. i always find dead animals when they already half-decayed, never that fresh. i always, always run away.

and the thought that i will soon be having to get a Real Job upon graduation scares me.

oh, et j'aime julie delpy tant. do you have the rest of her cd?

i often witness freshly dead creatures because of my cats, who leave them as traditional gifts on the back patio.

oh, i am more terrified of jobs than most can imagine. the only reason this current job is tolerable is because it is temporary {though it has gone on much longer than expected}. but honestly, doing something you actually like makes a big difference. it might be fairly uncreative, but at least i am writing, as well as learning about people's lives.

i have a few of her songs, but not the entire cd. 'ocean apart' is my favourite. ♥
