hee.
these are from doune castle,
which is the castle they used as all the different castles in the film.
it's probably my favourite castle, actually.
the stairs are very winding and treacherous.

I love the knight scene, the one where they have to answer the questions correctly to cross the bridge, and the scene with the peasants farming dirt in the field. *lmao*

"HELP! HELP! I'm being oppressed!"

i agree. stirling and edinburgh are both very museum-ified,
but doune is quite quiet {unless there is a wedding, but that was fairly solemn, and it's lovely to see old women in their massive hats and such}. edinburgh is probably my least favourite, just because of the swarms of people. i like stirling for the view, mostly. and once i found a wee button-pin contraption with a spaceship, which made me glad.

when that guy follows the man on the fake horse making the sounds of the horse's hooves hitting the asphalt.
in highschool, we had to act out geoffrey chaucer's canterbury tales and we had 'the knight's tale'. it was all done in holy grail style. they loved it.

where are these photos taken? did i miss reading that? i'd love to see such scenery.

oh, i had that as well! for school, we were to make film versions of different idylls from the idylls of the king. everyone sort of battled for the holy grail idyll because they all wanted to do the monty python thing. i directed 'balin & balan', which we turned into 'balinda & balanda', and my friend mary and her twin sister played the leads. i was in it for a few moments, as guinevere. it is my film masterpiece, but it is actually rubbish because we filmed it in exactly two afternoons and everyone was yelling at each other and i forgot to turn the date off the camera at first and a dog played king arthur. well, that last bit was good, actually. he was nominated for best actor. but yes. i need a new masterpiece.

and you totally missed that they were taken at doune castle, where they filmed most of the castle scenes in the holy grail.

One of my all time favourite movies.
If anyone needs to understand my sense of humour I just tell them to watch that.
I love the black knight and the knights who say NIH!

Beautiful pictures by the way....as always.

thankyouthankyou.
it's always nice when films properly define a person's sense of humour.
i tell people to watch bill bailey's stand-up, or even watch black books.
monty python is quite similar to my sense of humour as well.
