- What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why? I think being an Auror would be really, really cool. I'm sure that answer is pathetically over-used, but I'd like the adventure, yet helpfulness, of it. I'd love to really feel like I had a purpose in life beyond something silly like studying muggles. Not that studying things isn't important, I want to be involved in something really important.
- If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why? Defense Against the Dark Arts. Goes with my wanting to be an Auror, I guess. I always get most excited when reading the books/watching the movies when it's DADA stuff. I think it'd be fun to teach children about how just because something is scary doesn't mean that you can't be ready to face it. I think it's something I could without any doubt teach year after year without growing bored with it because it's a subject that is always changing.
- This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not? Yes. I'd regret it if I didn't, and would just be curious to see if I could do it. Everyone has that moment in their life when they don't do something because they're too afraid, and we all end up kicking ourselves over not having tried.
- If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why? Something that could fly. A bald eagle, maybe. They're so majestic and elegant, but strong too. And there'd be no fear of having any real predators chasing after me. I could protect myself that way, too.
- What HP character do you identify with most and why? Hermione. I read the first book days before my eleventh birthday and immediately imagined myself as her. I was kind of an outcast by that time, with a few very close friends. And I love to read and am told I'm smart. I'm also snarky and witty, and am not always the most thoughtful of people, though I try.
- What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised? This answer changes day to day, I swear. The most constant is I'd see myself somewhere like Hogwarts, Narnia or Middle-earth with a really important destiny. But on the realistic side, probably happily married with kids. But I know without the adventure and purpose I'd be miserable, so whatever I would see I'd have a reason for doing it that kept me going.
- If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it? I honestly don't know what I'd do with it. On a selfish level I'd buy a sword, a pony, and buy a huuuuuuge library. And invest it. But like anyone who has at least half a heart I'd donate some to children's cancer funds and animal rescue. When you die you'll leave all the crap you bought behind. It's good to know that someone's life is just a little easier because you lived.
- What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now? I wanted to be a vet, but then realized how much science and pain that would involve. Now I'd like to be a teacher. I really wish I lived a long time ago though so I could do something incredibly heroic. Of course being a girl might have gotten in the way of that :\
- If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it? My ideal spell is already the patronus spell, it does everything I want. It require inner strength and determination and can save those you love. But that's not the question. One where you could talk to those who have passed on. I hate the finality of death, even though it simply can't be the end, it certainly does feel like it. Sermoletum. Talk and dead in Latin, according to this dictionary.
- If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus? The Grim Reaper, going after those I care about. I'm always more scared for my pets and family and friends than I am for myself. I spend a lot of time being terrified that someone I hold dear will die, and I'll spend a good portion of the rest of my life wondering if there was anything I could have done to stop it or change it. I think it'd turn into a chinchilla because they're so non-threatening and hilarious. Because chinchillas are hilarious. *laughs at the thought of one*
- What do you look for in a friend?
Loyalty: I want a friend who I know won't run when the going gets tough. I need to know that they've got my back like I've got theirs.
Compassion: They've got to have a heart and be ready to listen when I need to simply talk.
Sense of humor: What's the point of having a friend if they can't make you laugh? I can't stand being around dull people. Mreh.
Selflessness: I don't want a friend who spends all their time talking about themselves. Though I'm glad to hear about them, if they spend the whole time talking about how wondeful they are it's enough to drive someone mad. They need to know that there is a purpose out there greater than themselves.
- What trait most annoys you about other people? Vanity. Anyone who spends their whole life tooting their own horn has no time to enjoy everything there is outside their mirror. And followers. And I don't like people who are overly nice. That's so boring!! People can't be happy and sweet all of the time. It makes me think that they're simply a doormat.
- What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
Hopeful: I can look at the darkest of times and even when it's about to take me under, I can still see that faint glimmering chance that things are going to turn out okay.
Courageous: I honestly think that everyone has courage. It's being so terrified that you're convinced you'll never make it through but giving it a go anyways. Which I guess ties in with hopeful.
Loyal: If I make a promise, I keep it. I don't leave my friends behind when they're having a difficult time or make a mistake. It's usually when they're pushing you away that they need you most.
Strong-willed: The good end of my being stubborn. I know what I want, and I do what's right and don't let anyone stop me. I don't give up, ever.
Imaginative: Anyone who likes Harry Potter is, really! As I said before, I always wish that I was part of a magical world, and sometimes pretend I am. When I get really bored, I'll pretend that when I walk out the door of class I'll find myself in a forest in another world, or that I'm in a dull lesson required for me to take charms or something. Weird, but whatever gets you through.
- What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
Stubborn: I think there must be times that my parents must want to just punt me out the door. Once my mind is made up, for good or bad, it's made up. No one can change it.
Impatient: I hate waiting, whether it be in line somewhere, for Christmas, to finish my homework. I want it all done now. I can also get impatient with people. If they don't understand something, or take too long to understand something, I get so frustrated. The only people I'm patient with are children.
Narcistic Am an idiot and thought it meant something else
Sarcastic: I think this is the way that I am most mean. Instead of outright telling someone that I don't like them or that they're doing something silly, I use my biting sarcasm. I'll overhear my sister (who is 13) and her friends doing the the whole "OMIGAWD HE TTLY LYKES U" and I'll just pipe in, mimicking their valley girl tone and just say, "NO WAI ELL OH ELL." Sometimes they'll think I'm actually being nice o.O
Idealistic: I have this feeling that everything happens for a reason, good conquers evil, everyone has a destiny. This is a negative thing because it's sometimes shocking when things don't work just right as I imagined it.
Temper: I do nothing for the Irish/temper stereotype except prove that it's true. I don't necesarily get angered easily, but when I am angry, dear God watch out. My mom made me angry once and as I stomped upstairs, I kneed the door in frustration. There is now a lovely hole in it.
- Define in your own words the following key traits:
- Courage: Being terrified of doing something and doing it anyways because you know it's the right thing to do. I don't think it's the the strong, scantily clad, bulgingly muscled hero who faces a hundred foes without batting an eye lash. It's the small wizard who refuses a dark lord, putting his own life on the line. It's the hobbit who carries a ring to a mountain of fire to save the world, the four young children who face a witch instead of running back through the fur coats and into their own world. All of them were terrified, but knew that there was something to be done that was greater than themselves.
- Loyalty: Standing by your friends through thick and thin, knowing that they'll do the same for you. And even if they don't, even if they betray you, you don't ever give up on them. It's never turning into a traitor, to others or to yourself.
- Intelligence: Intelligence gets you through life but in the end means nothing if you haven't any wisdom. Intelligence is what you learn from books, from school. I much prefer wisdom, the little things that you learn from living, or from a beautiful story.
- Ambition: Being blinded by your own greed and desire to better yourself for your own sake. It's the dark side of potential.
