  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
The Department of Mysteries sounds interesting, so i'd quite like to be an Unspeakable. I can imagine that there would be great diversity in work, and I get the impression that the Unspeakables operate mostly independently, which suits me since I work better on my own, as opposed to being part of a team. The mystery surrounding the nature of the work holds great appeal.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
Defence Against the Dark Arts. Firstly, i'd like to try be the first DADA teacher to last longer than a year (I reckon i'd have a pretty good chance too, since i'm not in cohorts with Voldemort, i'm not a fake, i'm not a werewolf, i'm not a psycho and I don't have any plans to Avada anyone - least of all the headteacher) - well, to last a longer than a year since Tom Riddle paid Hogwarts a visit. Secondly, it's probably one of the few jobs out there where you could study the dark arts extensively without being hauled off to Azkaban. I would very much enjoying having the knowledge of the dark arts, aswell as how to combat them. Plus, it's important to teach the kiddos that it's not nice to throw unforgiveables around.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?
No. The glory offered by the TriWizard Tournament isn't something which appeals to me, since it's based on short term achievement. It's far too dangerous anyway - I wouldn't be willing to compromise my life in such a way. I'm not the most gifted individual in hands on tasks such as that, so it wouldn't be a risk worth taking.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
It would be a wolf. I would want to be an animal who could defend myself should the need arise, but not one that would be out of place should you came across it and thus possibly arouse suspicion (you wouldn't exactly expect to find a leopard roaming the forests of England). A wolf can be very threatening, but only if it chooses to be.
Also, wolves are adapted predators, and have alot of features which I would value in my animagus - sharp vision, an acute sense of smell and fast movement. All of these aspects would be useful if you either needed to follow someone, escape attack, or if you just wanted to lie low.
They are creatures who can exist either alone or in packs and can adapt to their surroundings accordingly, much like myself.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?
Most people I know relate really strongly with a character in HP (or at least like to think they do). I've never really found that, but in lieu of Half-Blood Prince, I can relate to a certain extent with Narcissa. I'd like to say it's because of my stunning good looks, but it would be stretching the truth somewhat.
Post HBP, I was pretty much of the opinion that while Narcissa was not as mean as dear Lucius, she was still cold, somewhat emotionless and haughty. However, in book six, I saw a side to her which I wasn't expecting by any stretch of the imagination. She does infact have a very emotional side to her and has a genuine love for those she cares about, reagardless of what outer appearances may suggest - she was even willing to risk her life by telling Snape about Voldemort's plans for Draco, when she had explicitly been told not to. It's on that level that I can relate to her. Outwardly, i'm a pretty indifferent person - I don't want to go as far as saying that i'm cold, but i'm not overly joyous. Therefore, it is pretty common for people who don't know me too well to misread me. However, I do have a very deep love for those who are close to me - whether it be family, friends or other - and although it isn't necessarily expressed in the most obvious sort of way, it's there, and has shown itself when people I love have been hurt by others.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
I'd see myself with my family back together as one unit.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
The first thing i'd do is use it to buy a strong drink to calm myself down. I'd probably go mad and have one of those reserve whiskeys that's been aged for a ridiculously long amount of time and costs a ridiculously high amount of money, but then i've just won a million dollars, right?
After that, it's pretty simple - i'm save/invest a third, spend a third (which would include paying of my parents' mortgages) and give a third to charity.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
When I was really young, I wanted to be Alice In Wonderland. With hindsight, I can accept that it isn't exactly a job, but I was convinced at the time that I could go through life drinking cups of tea with the Mad Hatter and March Hare, and that that would be my job in life. I was a stubborn kid too, so you didn't want to try and tell me that it wasn't a proper job.
Then I wanted to be a nurse, just so I could dress up in the uniform and wear a stephoscope. However, that dream was steadily crushed when it emerged that I am am horrendous at everything scientific (they knew from a young age, apparantly).
If i'm honest, I guess I wouldn't object too much to still having a career as Alice In Wonderland, but since that's not happening, i'd like to work in investment banking (since the two are obviously so closely related...). I want a career that allows me the opportunities to travel, to see different parts of the world and to progress in my profession. I think a competitive working environment is a good thing to have.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
I would create a spell to pause time, and call it presuspendus. For one thing, i'd use it to get more sleep at night, since I seem to always feel tired. I'd also use it so that I could put more time into homework and assignments, not to mention that it would be an extremely useful tool to have during exams (whether it be to run out and check some answer in my textbook, or just to give myself more time to answer essay questions).

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
It would be that Samara child from 'The Ring'. Seriously, I have not been able to so much as look at a copy of that video since I watched it a few years ago. It's funny, because most of the standard scary stuff in that film didn't bother me, but something about the girl herself tapped directly into my fear. If I threw Riddikulus at her, she'd spout bleached blonde Paris Hilton-esque hair and look like she'd just emerged from a shopping spree at Fred Segal, or one of those sorts of shops.

  • What do you look for in a friend?
I don't set out looking for people with specific qualities, but I try to avoid extroverts. I don't like it when someone puts everything about them out there for you to see (as in, they have no qualms about discussing anything and everything with you, regardless of what sort of terms you're on as far as friendship goes). I just don't have an awful lot of patience with people who are loud and demanding, so I guess I gravitate towards those who are more reserved or laid back.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?
Intolerance. I'm going to try and explain this as best as I can, but I always find this hard to explain in words. It's not so much that I mind people being intolerant of something or having viewpoints which go against what either I or society in general deems to be acceptable (since it's your prerogative to have your own opinions). It's when people choose to cross that clear line of respectability and decide to make a point of vocalising or demonstrating their dislike or distaste for the lifestyle/beliefs/opinions of others in such a way that it is intentionally designed to make those people feel uncomfortable that I have a problem with it. A big problem, actually. I don't see how it's that hard to accept other people's views or beliefs - you don't have to like it, but you sure as hell don't have to be malicious about it. The level of intolerance I encounter in people on a day to day basis really troubles me.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
    - I'm pretty good at reading people, and it's something that I find very useful in determining when people are lying to me and for telling when people have something on their mind. It's not a 'sixth sense', or anything ridiculous like that - i'm just very observant of body language and behaviour, and so recognize patterns in how people behave when they are feeling a certain way.
    - I'm quite self-sufficient, by which I mean that I depend on very few people in my life for things - whether it be emotionally or materially.
    - I am very honest. I don't believe in sugar-coating things, but i'm not brutally honest to the point that it's offensive. I will very rarely lie to someone, unless there is a very good reason, and my friends know that they can come to me for straightforward advice.
    - I'm ambitious and determined. I know that these are separate qualities, but they have always gone side by side for me, since my ambition fuels my determination and vice versa. This is particularly in relation to my schoolwork, and my aspirations in terms of what I want from my future career. When I want something, I will put all of my energy into getting it.
    - The little things in life are what bring me the most pleasure, so I don't demand for much.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
    - I procrastinate. Alot.
    - I have a sharp tongue. It has served me well at times, but on the whole, it's not something i'm particularly proud of.
    - I'm a real pessimist. I find it hard to see the good in things, and go into things with a negative attitude - my ethos is 'if you don't place hope in something, you can't be disappointed by it'. I suspect I take this a little too far though, since it seems to be relevent to most aspects of my life these days.
    - I'm not very trusting, and find it difficult to let people get too close to me. It's affected some important relationships in my life, but it's something I find difficult to shrug off.
    - I'm lacking slightly significantly on the common sense front.
