- What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
Hm… Well, I definitely couldn’t be an Auror, that’s for sure. I would probably throw my wand at the criminal and attempt to run instead of stand up to the guy. I couldn’t be a teacher, either, because I honestly hate kids. I’m afraid of destroying their innocence and I’m way too impatient to teach anything to anyone. I would be miserable.
My next guess is that I would be a librarian because I love to read, but I don’t think I could sit for hours on end in silence. People would end up telling ME to shut up, and I’m way too ADDish to read all day - no matter how good the book is. Other than that, I love art, but I don’t think there would be many professional options for artists in the wizarding world.
I guess I could be a journalist for the Daily Prophet, just because I love to write. The prospect of writing a load of rubbish and propaganda for government officials is a little off-putting, sure, but it’s the only profession that wouldn’t result in me having a nervous breakdown. Plus, I get to run around interviewing people.
- If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
Oh, Lord. Do I HAVE to be a teacher? Well, fine. For the sake of answering this question, I’ll pretend that I have enough patience to teach Astronomy.
I’ve always been fascinated with what’s out there. The way Sinistra teaches it, it seems that there’s just a bunch of memorization involved… But I think there’s a lot more to it than just memorizing star charts. I mean, sure, you’ll need that practical knowledge to get anywhere in the subject, but what about the discussions on how the universe is currently expanding? Is it possible that there are other life forms out there?
And I honestly do believe that, if there’s a secret behind how life came to be, it’s out there in the stars. I mean, come on! We’re literally made of stars, aren’t we? Dead star particles, to be exact. The answer has to be out there, somewhere.
… Er, sorry about that. I can get rather crazy sometimes. But honestly, it’s an interesting subject.
- This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?
I laughed. Really, I did.
Why the heck would I put my bloody name into the Goblet? Do I look suicidal to you? Do I? No? Okay, then.
No. No, I wouldn’t put my name into the Goblet. I’m scared of my own shadow. I scream and run around in circles if a bug flies at me, much less fire-breathing dragons.
I’m sorry. You all asked for elaboration, but in this case, I really can’t give it to you. The answer is no. Pure and simple. It wouldn’t even cross my mind to do such a crazy thing. And that’s that.
- If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
Wow. Good question.
I think I would be a bird. I’ve always wanted to fly as a child, ever since I received my first Animorphs book and read about Tobias the hawk. I would throw myself from the couch and flap as hard as I could, only to be defeated by gravity.
And, to make sure that I don’t become pigeon road kill or bird food, I would be a bird of prey - like an eagle, or a hawk like Tobias. I wouldn’t attack anything… I would just make sure that I’m the strongest, so that I don’t get killed.
It would suck to be murdered as a bird. Really, really badly.
- What HP character do you identify with most and why?
Argh! Why am I required to think so much?!
Um. It’s a straight up tie between Luna Lovegood and Severus Snape, honestly.
With Luna, I identify with her most because we both outcast ourselves. We come up with these crazy ideas and don’t even KNOW that other people think they’re insane until someone else tells us so. And - more solidly to the point - neither of us care that we’re considered crazy. In fact, thinking differently is something I pride myself on.
With Severus Snape, we’re not noted for our brilliance enough. As a teenager, he was creating spells and potions and techniques no one his age could ever dream of doing. In comparison, I was writing novels and thinking about the meaning of life when I was nine years old while my classmates were busy playing Barbie. (Not to say I didn’t own a collection myself.) I’ve made up my own philosophy and my own religion. I’m not a sheep, guided along with the pack by the media or by so-called “morals”. I think for myself, as Snape did, and for that we were both horribly persecuted. I’m not as bitter about it, though.
- What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
I honestly can’t say. I would like to think that I’m in a good college, have a billion bucks, and have received the Noble Prize for being the genius that I am, but who knows? That’s what I THINK my heart’s true desire is, but no one really knows that except for my heart.
For all I know, it’s something from the deepest layers of my subconscious. It can be that I’m immortal and will always remain young, or that I’ve found someone who I truly understand and who truly understands me.
Now that I think more about it, it really is just that: I’ve found someone who I truly understand and who truly understands me. After all, I’ve always been terrified of becoming an old hag locked away in the attic, staring at photographs of myself when I was fifteen and sixteen. I’ve always been afraid of ending up alone because of how crazy I can be sometimes, so I think that I would like to be with someone who appreciates me and my differences.
- If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
Oh yeah, baby! THIS is my kind of question!
First, I would consider investing, but then would decide that I don’t want to take the chance of losing my money to a company full of empty promises. Then, I would make a list of everything I want. I would buy anime, books, games, airplane tickets to countries all over the world, and I would hire a maid because I’m the laziest person on the face of this Earth.
I would spend all of it REALLY quickly, though, before the government could take it away from me. Chances are, I won it in some kind of lottery, and the government always loves to steal money from these sorts of things.
- What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
I was so cute. I wanted to be a veterinarian. I loved animals so much. I would chase cats and dogs around the pasture where my older brother used to ride horses. They were mostly strays, but the horse-riding community took care of them. They even bought dog and cat food for them.
When I was through with them, all of them had run away. Every. Single. Last. One.
Obviously, my ideal job has changed. Right now, I want to be an artist, a writer, and an anime translator. I love all three, after all, and it only makes sense to have a job dealing with what I love and what I enjoy. I’m even learning Japanese independently so that I can start translating as soon as possible. I’ll need the money from that first so that I can buy art supplies and support myself as a writer.
- If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
I would invent a spell that would allow a person to fly. I believe I expressed my desire to learn how to fly pretty thoroughly in one of the earlier questions.
It’s pretty shallow, I know.
I guess another thing would be a spell that would allow you to fall through the pages of a book and become a character inside of it. I mean, I’m a pretty sheltered person, you know? I don’t know much of the outside world, and the only exposure I get is through books. Still, it’s as a writer once said: “I would prefer to write from my roots instead of from books…” Or something like that.
Anyway, the point is that I would be able to travel and see more if I fell through the pages of a book. I would be able to learn through the roots, not just from the book.
Unfortunately, I don’t know Latin (nor do I WANT to know Latin). Most spells have Latin roots, yeah? So, the first one would be the Latin root for “flying.” The second, the Latin roots for “book” and the ending for “fall”.
- If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
A thousand images just flashed through my head, but I think that the one I’ll stick with pretty firmly is that it would turn into a long, dark shadow.
It implies that something is coming; that the unknown is stalking me. It could be something supernatural, or a rapist; a Red Cap, or a thief.
Basically, I’m afraid of being afraid. My ultimate nightmare is being terrified of what my imagination will think of next.
When I say Riddikulus, it would turn into an absolutely fabulous, muscular cross dresser. He would have a pink wig on, heavy penciled-eyebrows, and blood red lips. High cheek bones would be graced with pink blush. A thick neck would be surrounded by a feathery boa. A spaghetti strap shirt wouldn’t hide his muscular shoulders or chest. He would also have a miniskirt, knee-high socks, and high heels.
I LOVE cross dressers.
- What do you look for in a friend?
I look for someone who isn’t afraid to go against the norm, as long as what they believe in is truly what THEY believe in, and not the beliefs of their parents, their friends, or Britney Spears.
For example, I don’t mind Christianity at all. What I DO mind is a Christian who hasn’t thought about or questioned their religion. I don’t mind someone who enjoys listening to Black Eyed Peas, as long as they listen because they truly like it, and not because they would be “un-cool” if they didn’t.
- What trait most annoys you about other people?
Yeah, I know. I’m repeating myself here. But I cannot STAND people who just go along with the norm because they’re afraid of being seen as geeky, or they’re afraid of not being accepted. I see them as weaklings. I don’t think there’s a point to being alive if you don’t flesh out your own personality and your own beliefs. I also don’t think there’s a point if you don’t stand up for your beliefs.
- What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
1. I’m extremely creative. I’m one of the few in Writing class who has received nearly straight A’s (with the exception of one 84%.) In art, I’ve been selected to take an adult class even though I’m still a child. I’m very proud of my artistic ability, and I really could go on and on about it all day.
2. I stand up for myself. I don’t let people walk over me because they feel like it, or because they think they have the “right” to do so.
3. I have a set goal. Not many people my age know EXACTLY what they want to do. And, to top that, it’s really something that I want to do! I’m not worrying about whether it’ll be good enough for my parents or my college counselor.
4. I think differently. This gives me a pretty unique personality, I think, so I’m not really all so monotone or boring. I’m pretty spontaneous at times.
5. Once you get to know me, I’m a darned loyal friend. When I was a freshman, some senior started to pick on one of my friends because her locker stank to high heaven. I went out of my way to stick up for her, and got a pretty awful verbal lashing as a result… But I stuck up for her, nonetheless.
- What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
1. I may have a unique personality, but it’s constantly wavering. I know where I stand on a lot of issues, but I’m never sure about how to voice my opinion. One day, I’m a cold, hard, girl who’ll make you feel like pig slop. I’ll insult you to get my point across. The next day, I’m the nicest, sweetest girl around. I’ll be sympathetic and I’ll listen to what you have to say before giving my own opinion on the subject. Sometimes, this erratic change in my personality makes me wonder if I have some kind of disorder.
2. I have Will Hunting’s defense mechanism: I push people away before they can hurt me. I’m untrusting and can be pretty anti-social in this sense.
3. My tongue is too quick. I say things without thinking about it, and the end result is often hurting people’s feelings when I don’t mean to. That’s why I like the Internet. I’m forced to think about what I’m saying before I click that submit button, and even then I can delete what I’ve said really quickly without anyone noticing.
4. I’m too arrogant. As you can see, I can speak rather highly of myself at times. This developed because, when I was younger, I had the lowest self-esteem for miles around. I decided that the remedy for this was to force myself to be prideful of myself, and now - as you can see - it’s almost gotten out of hand.
5. I’m selfish. I really am. I don’t give a hoot about who you are or your feelings unless you’re a friend or a family member. And what’s worse is that I really don’t care! I know it’s wrong, but I also know that this is a dog eat dog world. If I’m too soft, people will use me.
- Define in your own words the following key traits:
- Courage: I guess this can range from a number of things. It can be when you sticks up for your beliefs and you’re willing to become a martyr for the cause. It can be when you stick your neck out on the line for others you really care about. The ultimate would be the type of courage when you’re willing to die for another.
- Loyalty: Loyalty is a pretty broad subject too, obviously. It’s when you firmly stick to a belief or an idea and won’t back down from it, no matter what happens. It’s when you stick up for someone just because they’re of the same blood, or because they have the same belief. (Or because they’re in the same House as you. :P )
- Intelligence: Now THIS is far too broad to describe. It all depends on what each and every person believes is important. If you fail in the subjects of math but excel in languages, you might be considered retarded by a Calculus teacher but a genius to English professors. Frankly, to me, intelligence is when you understand the fact that no one person excels in every thing and when you do NOT believing anyone is lesser because they don’t understand a subject that you excel in.
- Ambition: Ambition is when you know what the heck you’re doing and you’re going for the goal. It’s as simple as that.
