  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
From the professions the books have exposed the readers to, I'd have to say something in the ministry. I'd want a career that was fairly business oriented with a hierarchy so that I'd have an incentive to rise within the company and gain higher, better paying positions.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
Although this is probably overused and cliche, I'd say Defense Against the Dark Arts. It's an interesting, somewhat controversial subject. It goes back to the idea many parents have that, if we teach our children about something, obviously they'll want to go out and try it. (ex. sex ed) I personally disagree with this and believe teenagers need to be exposed to the world and see its true nature. Simply pretending the Dark Arts don't exist won't make them go away. By preparing teenagers for the real world and allowing them full information, we allow them to make their own decisions and form their own opinions, rahter than blindly following their parents beliefs. That's why I'd want to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. I feel that it is one of the most important classes taught at Hogwarts because it forces teenagers to realize that the world isn't a very nice place and allows them to see the degree of evil that is simply human nature. Only by coming to terms witht he realities of the world can someone truly grow up and find their palce in the world.

On a side note though, I would make a terrible teacher. I have no patience when people don't understand things. Also, I'm too opinionated to teach anything objectively. I'd also probably get fired for insulting a student or being controversial or something else I wasn't supposed to do.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?
No. I'd like to believe I would, but in reality I'd be afraid. I'd be afraid of loking stupid or killing myself or something else terrible. I'd be the hypocrite sitting on the sidelines pointing out the other competitors faults even though I could never do the things they're doing. I'm a fearful person because my self-preservation instinct seems to run a bit strong, but I'm also proud, so I probably wouldn't admit to my friends that I was afraid to enter.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
I would be a rabbit. A rabbit is such a harmless looking animal, people don't expect it to do anything but look cute and hop around. As a rabbit you could get away with so much simply by looking cute. This is a lesson I've learned from real life. Any time my friends get in trouble for something I'm always let off the hook because I'm this sweet innocent looking blonde girl. Parents assume I can do no wrong and want me hanging out with their kids even though I'm usually the one if not inciting, at least very willingly participating in, any illicit activities. Also, rabbits are small, you could find good hiding places and manage to escape being noticed, this would allow for greater mobility and usefulness. Something huge, like a horse, might seem cool, but it's also rather conspicuous and useless. I mean, there's no reason to become an animagus unless you could get some use out of it, otherwise it's a lot of work just for a neat party trick.

  • If you could be written into any HP Series book as a new character, which book would it be, and who would your character be? Why did you choose that book/character?
I would choose Goblet of Fire because i would love to see the TriWizard tournement and meet the students from other schools. I honestly don't know who my character would be, probably just a random student.

  • What is your favorite magical spell/charm? Why? I like Accio because I'm lazy and would love to be able to summon things to myself.

  • Name three reasons why you would like to be sorted into each House.
Gryffindor: 1. they seem to get away with a lot 2. they stand up for each other so you'd always have someone to watch your back 3.it'd be nice to have the whole brave and rigthous reputation, i could pretend, lol
Hufflepuff: 1.friendly people 2.probably well-liked by teachers and adult 3.probably not much drama
Ravenclaw: 1.everyone is at least fairly intelligent 2. always someone to help you with your homework (or copy off of, I swear is all my senior year of high school is teaching me is how to cheat more effectively. I can't wait to graduate) 3. the geeks have all the money later in life (look at Bill Gates)
Slytherin: 1. probably a pretty close-knit group of people 2. due to the negative portrayal in the books, Slytherin seems interesting. 25% of the school can't be evil, so I'd like to see what they're really like. 3. seem like the sort of people you'd want to have connections with later in life.

  • You've received your O.W.L results. What are your results? (You have to have failed or done poorly in at least one subject)
History of Magic-O (I like history and I've always been good at social studies)
Defense Against the Dark Arts-O (once again, something that would interest me so I'd apply myself)
    Charms-E
    Transfiguration-E
Potions-A/P (chemistry was hard for me so I'd assume potions would be too but I'd struggle though and pull a decent grade, I'd hope I sat next to someone who studies a lot. Also, potions is slightly similar to cooking and I'm domestically challenged so that would add to the me sucking factor)
Herbology-E (I don't really like plants and environment-y things, yet I am getting an A in my environmental science class due to the fact that my friend's older brother took the class 2 years ago and saved the tests for us, so I figure I'd manage the same way in herbology.)
Divination-P (I don't believe in fate or predicting the future, and if I had Trelawney as a teacher I probably wouldn't learn much as I'd alternate between sleeping and laughing at the crazy.)

  • If you could have any superpower - but only ONE - what would it be?
Invisibility, it'd be awesome to be able to see and hear things without people knowing I was there. I hate when people keep secrets from me, it really irks me, this would be a way for me to find out anyway.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?
I don't think I completely identify with any specific character. Most of the HP character's either have experienced some life-changing trauma or have a defining personality characteristic. I'm pretty average and have lived a comfortable life.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
I would see myself sitting in a nice office behind an intimidating desk wearing a power suit and being generally successful; possibly ordering a lackey to bring me coffee or something.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
I'd invest half of it and spend the other $500,000 on expensive clothes and other fun things. There'd definately be some extravagently expenive designer handbags purchased, I'm such a girl.

  • Which HP book is your favorite and why?
I liked Order of the Phoenix because J.K. Rowling's discovery of the caps lock button amuses me to no end. Also Harry being angry and angsty is funny as hell. I also like that it's the first book where we can really see that the kids are growing up and that they're just regular teenagers. I also think it's the first book where J.K. Rowling makes her characters more 3-D and complex compared to the fairly flat characterization in the earlier books.

  • Which HP book is your least favorite and why?
Chamber of Secrets is my least favorite book because I felt like it was a repeat of the first book with a few words changed here and there. It was somewhat boring, and the ultimate evil was just a big snake, sure it was a REALLY big REALLY evil snake, but still not as scary as human evil.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
When I was in first grade I wrote in a paper that I wanted to be an Astronaut-Pilot-Veterinarian-Pediatrician-on-the-moon, so yeah, you could say it's changed. I've realized I quite enjoy my upper-middle class lifestyle and would like to maintain or improve upon it. This means I need a fairly high paying job. Also, I realized that I'm really bad at math and science, so now I'm leaning towards Business. For a while I wanted to be a corporate attorney. Now I think I'm going to dual major in economics and international business while in college. I have AP classes, so I'll start college as a sophomore, so I'll probably stay and get a masters in International Business. I've decided that America's economy is going down, I grew up during years of good economy and now I'm going to jump ship. All the business is heading to China, and China is ready to be the world's next superpower, so that's where I plan to be when America falls. I also like the idea of a business job because of the opportunities for advancement and the hierarchal system. And yes, I realize I have this way too planned out for a high school senior, but I guess I'm just pretty driven. I know what I want my life to be like and I'm going to do everything in my power to achieve it.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
I would invent the ability to learn through diffusion. It would be awesome to just slam your face into a book and suddenly know the information from that book. It would save so much time spent studying and I could spend more time sitting around being lazy. I'm not sure what I would call it. I'd probably be lame and just shove the latin words for learn and diffusion together.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
Hand-cuffs or ropes. I'm terrified of losing control of a situation. I hate roller-coasters and small spaces for this reason. It would probably turn into a bird or some other abstract symbol of freedom and/or power. I like to pretend I have complete control over my choices and can decide the course of my life.

  • What do you look for in a friend?
I don't make friends eaily, I tend to dislike a large percentage of my peers. I look for someone who I can have fun with. The person can't be stupid. I don't mean that they have to do well in school, but they have to be able to hold an intelligent conversation and think about something bigger than who's dating who. They also need to understand me and my faults and deal with them. I also want someone who doesn't have those "oh, i don't wanna do that, it's wrong" thing going on. I smoke, I drink, I have sex, and my friends at least need to not give me dissaproving looks all the time. That's why I pick friends who are worse than me. So I have very few good friends because it's hard to find intelligent, fun, blunt people who also party and have fun.

  • What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish?
I want to live a comfortable life (comfortable=filthy rich, if possible). I would like the world to remember me when I'm gone, but I know this is unlikely so it's not a neccesity. Ideally I will die at a ripe old age surrounded by my possesions like the superficial consumer-whore that I am.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?
Stupidity. In general I feel that most of the human race is stupid and ugly and we're generally a waste of a species. I'm somewhat of a cynical pessimist, but i call myself a realist. Ok, this goes against what I just said, but I also hate when people talk about school and/or study all the time. I want people to be intelligent, not school-obsessed. There is a balance and those people do exist. Unfortunately not many of them exist, this I why I only have like 5 friends I actually like.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
1.I'm intelligent. I have a lot of natural intelligence, I don't always apply myself though, school tends to bore me.
2.I'm driven. I have goals and I try to make sure I'm on the right path to achieve my goals.
    3. I realize my faults, accept them, and learn to work with them.
    4. I'm fairly ruthless, I don't mean I'm cruel or anything, so I don't consider it a fault. I mean I'm willing to do anything to get what I want, I consider this a positive quality because, hey, It gets me what I want.
    5. I'm very good at public speaking and can speak very persuasively if I want to.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
1.I judge people too quickly and often for superficial reasons. There's a girl in my gym class who's slightly overweight and wears rather unflattering gray sweatpants. I hate those sweatpants. I want to lock the girl in a closet just so I don't have to look at her sweatpants. Of course that problem could be solved by her not wearing the same gym clothes every day, which is rather disgusting.
    2. I'm proud, I won't ask people for help even when I need it (which explains my math grade), and I can't stand when other people see me do embarrassing things.
    3. I'm a wuss. I'm afraid of a lot of random things. I don't like heights, the dark, small spaces, spiders, and I'm also rather terrified of centipedes and millipedes. NOTHING should have that many legs. It's wrong and creepy.
    4. I'm vain. Ask my mom, she yells at me all the time, if there's a reflective surface I feel the need to look in it.
    5. I'm materialistic. I like things, they make me happy. They say money can't buy happiness, well it sure makes life a hell of a lot easier.
  • Define in your own words the following key traits:
    • Courage: overcoming your fear, and using it to your advantage in a dangerous situation.
    • Loyalty: Keeping another person's secrets and standing up for them if neccesary (it's this part that makes most of us not truly loyal).
    • Intelligence: the ability and willingness to question, think about, and seek to understand the world.
    • Ambition: Setting goals for yourself and trying to achieve them no matter how lofty they seem. If you don't try you'll never suceed, and if you don't suceed then you're right back where you were before you started and you can precede from there.

  • Name:Melissa
  • Age:18
  • What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.)

  • Where did you find out about us?

edit: whoops, completely skipped the gryffindor thing, I added it though, it's not much but now nothing is skipped.

sorted: slytherin, term iv
