Perhaps it's because of the new birdfeeder out front, but I'm noticing the bird life more than usual this year.  I cut down almost all of my perennial grasses.  Of the three I haven't done yet, two are little bluestem.  The dried stems leftover from last year are a soft peachy color and fairly strong.  I've watched birds land on them, bounce up and ( Read more... )

I love how you respond to your customers, esp those with special needs. No doubt you made that little boy's day. On behalf of all mothers with special-needs kids, "Thank you for treating my kid like a person."

You're welcome, and thank you, too. I appreciate feedback from people, anything from "You're a good packer!" to inspirational words like yours. I think what I have is innate, it cannot be taught, and as such I sometimes don't realize what I'm doing until afterward. Some clerks, I suppose, would be freaked out by the grunting kid who liked to be half-buried in groceries. Not me. What's the difference between that and paying to take your kid to Chuck E. Cheese so he can bury himself in a room full of plastic balls? Not much, I don't think.
