interesting mystery series

When I read a mystery series that is new to me I tend to read the whole series in rapid order, except I often stop before reading the most recent title. Once the next book or two in the series are published I read those titles in a batch. With a good series I find it more satisfying to read them in clusters, instead of spaced out with one book

Oh! I don't generally read mysteries, but I'm in the middle of Lock In by John Scalzi, which is a SF mystery set in the near future. In case you were short on books to request from the library. :)

Oooh, I've been wanting to read some Scalzi, but not sure where to start. Thanks!

It's unlike anything else he's written, since much of the rest of his work is more hard SF (far future, new planets, aliens, etc). I haven't come across anything of his that I didn't like, but your love of mysteries makes me think that maybe this will be a good entry point.
