Interesting article, but I have to say I read this early this morning when barely awake, and I thought it said "Depression among Hippopotamus"......enough said! ;)

Given some of the ferocious attacks by hippopotami that have happened in the last few years, the thought of depressed hippopotami, even less in control of their emotional reactions, is scary!

Yeah. I also have that reaction. I prefer that research done on lab animals be a little less stressful/fatal.

Feelings of rodent hopelessness is a serious problem. Someone must have spent time considering how to tell the difference between a general despair, a specific concern about the future or just a general sense of ennui.

And man, i can only dream of how that must look on a resume.

August 1996 - May 1997: Studied rodent hopelessness, with specific attention to detailing differences between a temporary state of feeling "blue," overall despair, and severe depression (with or without suicidal ideation).
