My grandfather had this book, called

The book appears to be from 1887, my grandfather was born in 1899 so maybe it was my great-grandfather's originally. Or it's a later reprint; it's hard to tell.

More or less a Bestiary; a Real-Life Monster Manual (At least, Real-Life as perceived in 1887),

It's so crumbly I keep it in a ziplock bag, but I thought I'd scan in a few of the illustrations:


Cover: I guess it's stamped-leather with a 3-D effect. Octopus, pyramid, globe, volcano.
