ICTEV 2005

Last week I went to the ICTEV 2005 conference. Besides the laggggggy wireless Internet connection for my Moodle workshop, it was cool to meet up with colleagues and friends.

Ian Allen from the ABC Science Unit gave a great keynote talk. As the Internet has grown in the past few years, I am impressed with some of the contributions that he has made such as this good primer on the Internet. I regularly use the Planet Slayer resource in my year 9 Research Science class.

He was pleased to hear that each evening, my kids giggle at the ExperiMENTALS. This science show streams onto the little screen of the a wireless PDA unit or my laptop. Goofy science filled humour that fits nicely into their bed-time reading. The show has inspired many mornings filled with broken kitchen eggs, runs to the neighbour to borrow a cup of baking soda and deep discussions about the Bernoulli Theorem. It was a delight to come home and tell my kids there more episodes are in production.

Now, light off and go to sleep.
