So, it's the end of 2004 and time for my favorite albums of the year. It's been a pretty random year for music. I figured I'd like it more than last year, but in the end, I think last year was a lot better. There were some interesting releases and some stuff I'd like to mention before I get to the actual list ( Read more... )

There's a reason Tilly opens for Rilo Kiley. It is because Rilo Kiley is good and has a good new album, and Tilly is a fourth-grade talent show act. (With some catchy songs, I admit.) I hate you.

And here I thought it was becasue a bunch of 15 year old girls that were creaming themselves over N Sync two years ago started buying the album. Thanks for setting me straight.

BEST TRACK: Bukowski

I agree.
Heh. On Tuesday I was driving to Huntsville, AL with my dad, and I had my iPod and iTrip supplying music. He had never heard any of my music, really, and I was giving him a bit of a tour. Got to this song in GNFPWLBN and he, a preacher-man, turned to me and said, "You know...I don't think Modest Mouse is really my kind of music..."

At first I didn't think so much of More Adventrous, but the live show really changed it for me. A lot of the songs lost their studio sheen, which kills it for most bands, but it actually helped a lot of the songs sound like I think they were supposed to. Having seen the songs done really well live definitely makes them sound better when listening to them on the album. Particularly I Never and Ripchord.

And Arcade Fire is good. Just put it on repeat and shut up.

Now I'm not going to post mine because we have too much that overlaps (including songs) that I think people would think I was copying you.

YOU KNOW WHAT GAYLE! I THINK I MIGHT HATE YOU.

No, really, I don't. But Andrew Rusin refused to post his list because we shared one album. One. So, if you refuse to do this because we share some things, I hate you and want you to die (in a sexy way). Plz, post. Even if our lists are the same, it would still make Paul and Kyle very happy. Also, Erik would probably be happy too but he is kinda lame.

I asked the guy if best buy had Tilly and the Wall, and he kind of just stared at me and asked me to pronounce the name again, and again. He clearly had no idea who i was referring to, kind of funny. But i hope to purchase it sometime in the future.
