I was really touched by his thoughtfulness; I simply can’t think of a better gift that he could have given me.

Now if I could just get him to clean out his room once in a while…..

It really was. Afterward we discussed how special it was to me and he very much impressed me with realizing the symbolic nature of the guitar to me.

This made up for all of those times I refereed shouting matches between he and his sister...and then some.

We do the best that we can, but it's always incredibly gratifying to see that they're growing up into such sensitive and thoughtful individuals.

This does not, however, get him off of the hook for taking out the garbage/recycling!

I was just a big mush the rest of the night and everytime I look at the guitar I feel tears well up and get a big, stupid smile on my face.

I guess this means I'll really have to get to learn how to play the thing, huh?

That sounds like a gift more precious than it was even originally. And so symbolic too, it represented so much to you and now it shows how much love and care and support you have from your kids as well :)

I don't think I've ever gotten a gift in my entire life that means quite as much as this one does to me. I am so blessed to have my children.
