Does FromJapan include receipts in the package? That would be a very easy way for customs to tell it's not a gift and it's been undervalued, if you're unlucky enough for them to have opened your package for inspection.
Yes FromJapan only included the invoices of the modified values of the items. But it indicates what the item is (toys/figures, shoes, clothing...etc). I marked all of them 100 yen each. But I did win a lot of the things like shoes at a very very cheap price.
I called the Canada Border Services Agency today and they told me I have two choices: 1) Pay for the customs fees at the post office and then request a refund from the government, attaching the invoices from FJ to show them proof of the items and the values or 2) Request the post office to send the package back for an appeal, so the customs can revisit the package and reassess it.
What do you think is the best route to go with this? Since if I pick option 1) I just need to send the FJ's invoices to the government as proof, and for any of the items (whether it is toys, shoes, or clothing) is marked as 100 yen each. Or option 2) where the package is sent back to the border. They might change the cost. I am not sure if they would even charge more for it.
I personally would just have paid the charges without contesting it- wouldn't want the gov't to took any closer into this, as devaluing + marking merchandise as a gift is illegal.
Hello! Canadian here :) I am ordering online ALL the time and I noticed that lately most of my packages sent my registered airmail and EMS are being stopped at customs :/ Registered airmail was my favorite method of shipment. I would always make sure to buy for less than $100 to avoid customs, but since November, everything with a total over $50 gets hit by customs... I actually did some test by placing orders of different amount ranging from $20 to 80$. I now only use registered SAL (it's super slow, I know ;-; ) but no mater what the value of my order is, none of them have been hit by customs so far!
As for having your package reevaluate, keep in mind that a part of that amount is the fees for the time it took to calculate your charge :/ you'll have to pay that amount no matter what and if you ask for a re-evaluation, you'll have to pay that fee twice. It's not a big fee ($9-$12 I think? ) but it's still an annoying fee. >< And as the others said, it will be hard to prove that it was actually a gift if they decide to open the box
( ... )
Hey! *high five* I want to let you know, your SSS gift to me last year is still one of my favourite customs! And it is the only thing hanging on my walls in my room <3
( ... )
Aww that is so heartwarming to know ^^ you just made my day brighter, thank you! <3
Yeah :( the day I had to pay for customs with my registered airmail parcel was very sad... Registered SAL takes around 3 weeks for me :) it's nothing compare to airmail or EMS, but I am willing to wait to save some money ^^
Actually, EMS is super random. I am not really using it because of that reason, but I did notice something: none of my huge package have been hit by customs, no mater that the value was (Life size plushies for example). xD it's so weird!
No 1 looks like a better option, but I would personaly just pay and forget about it xD that's what I always did. But that's just me of course.
^^ That painting is very special to me. I really love it! :)
Ah i see, so registered SAL isn't too bad then. Cus FJ shows that it could take 2~3 months for it to arrive or something like that unless i remembered it wrong. I guess waiting for 3 weeks won't hurt as long as I don't have to pay for customs.
I know right? That's why I was so confused when this package, smaller than any of my EMS packages got hit with customs. It was so weird.
I guess that I should just pay and forget it since after knowing that the actual customs fees consists of 3 part charges, it doesn't seem I would get much back even if i request a refund from the government later on. At least I should be thankful that it wasn't in USD and that it wasn't over $100.
I was thinking of selling the Bulbasaur and Venusaur from the nendoroid sets! :) only reason I'm hesitant to sell is because it'll automatically make the two sets incomplete
OMG. O.O do you mind taking some pictures of it? There is not damages or bad paint jobs right??
Would it be possible to do $35 shipped to 14618? I also need some time to get some funds if you don't mind holding on to them until I can pay. My auctions ends on the 19th, so I should get some money then to pay. Please let me know! :)
No damage that I can see! I have the Bulbasaur in hand, and the Venusaur will be arriving this week :D I actually am pretty sure it'll be to me by tomorrow (I ordered the set from pokecen the moment they restocked last week)! I can send pictures of the two once the set arrives :)
I could do $36.50 shipped before fees?? Would that work?
And no worries, I can hold them until your auctions finish up!
Haha i see! Can't wait to see the pictures. I always just wanted the two of them lol, I wish pokemon center actually allowed them to be sold separately.
Sure that sounds fine to me! :)
I will message you when I receive payment from my buyer for the auction items! :D Thank you again!!!!!!
