I think it's different for things like pokebox merch. They produce things in semi-large quantities, but the price is higher when people sell because everything is/was limited edition. I wouldn't consider any of their products to be customs. That's just my two cents though. :)

Thanks for the input! I guess at least that means there's no official rules against that at the time being then :Pc

What do you mean? Just because they're produced in large quantities doesn't mean they're not customs. The definition of custom has nothing to do with how many are sold 0_0

I guess that depends on whether you consider custom to be short for custom-made or not. That's how I take it at least.

I can agree with the PokeBox markup fiasco... It's a sad thing, really.

I vaguely remember an incident about some pick-up for their items charging too more for the fee, but that was loooong ago before PokeBox started to sell their stuff internationally online! So that made me wonder if there's some rules for a similar issue now...

Fan-made merch that is sold is the property of the buyer, they can resell, trade, or destroy as they will. If I saw my stuff successfully resold for higher than I charged, it would be a pretty good indicator it's time for me to raise prices. :) Things are worth what people are willing and able to pay.
I don't really understand this jealousy over clients reselling items for higher- if it's within the artist's capabilities to make more, they should respond to the demand and either make more or do a special auction or something. :) Get paid!

That's a pretty positive attitude from you as a creator to think like that! I probably should learn from that if one day I get to produce my own merch as well /owo

for fan made stuff and reselling there are no real rules but I find it is honorable to not ask more than you paid.
that being said you are more than welcome to up the price, no one is really stopping you.

Yeah I guess it's probably still in a grey area for the time being then :0c

It usually depends on the person who's selling customs because some don't like it when you do and sell them more for what they sold for, but they usually say that in their rules if they are not okay with that. But, if you truly do not wish to keep it anymore I think it's more than right to sell it off esp. if you are having trouble with money, because it wouldn't be right to be "forced" to keep stuff you no longer want because it does belong to that person now and not everyone has the mind of wanting to make profit. But if they overprice it just to earn profit I think it's wrong. Unless it was ooak or really special, I think it's fine to price something high but depending on what it was and how much it originally cost. Even with custom merch, you need to make sure you're pricing them fairly.

I was actually thinking about selling some of the convention items I got locally! Artists there usually don't state anything about reselling them though, so it's a bit inside a grey area, I guess /owo Maybe I'd end up auction them off or something hmmmm

If you are just buying things in the mind to resell, I'd suggest you sell them at what you originally paid for, otherwise it'd look like you just got them to resell them to make money off them. Of course, that doesn't mean you are doing that, but in other persons views it'll look that way but it's up to you how you want to price it. Also what you can do next time if you are ever planning on buying something from artists, is you should ask them first if it's okay or not to resell them since it varies.
