For various reasons, I've made the tough decision that I cannot keep up my current collecting habits. Thus:

I'm about to start writing up my own "goodbye, collection" post, too, with the difference that I'm selling absolutely everything. (Except my Topps. I will never sell them!) I've photographed everything and packaged it all up (the box weighs almost 19 lbs O_O) - all that remains is writing an exhaustive list of the items included and making the eBay listing. Let's hope people love Ditto :'D

And really? That's sad, I'm sorry to hear you're parting with your collections too. :/ And yeah, the stuff I'm selling is almost 14lbs, and it doesn't include my Mewtwos. I can't imagine how heavy it would be with them mixed in.

Yeah, I slowly arrived at the conclusion that my collecting is taking more than it's giving me and that it's better if I just get out while I still can. :( I'll still follow and lurk the comm but my buying days are done. I'll live vicariously through the gets posts of others and maybe include functional merch like kitchenware in my life. :D

I know what you mean - when I packaged all the items up, it took me hours (granted, I individually bubble wrapped almost every single item). Writing a list of all this stuff is going to take a while, my post probably won't be up for a few days!

Sorry to threadjack here, it is sad when someone gives up a collection but if it isn't giving you the satisfaction it once did then I understand :(

i completely understand. whenever i have financial issues, i always ask myself, "do i really need all this?" i make myself feel so guilty for it all, even though it really makes me happy. i guess because collecting pokemon is not "necessary" i sometimes doubt myself. at least you'll still have your mewtwos, though c: no matter what, my fire puppy and girafarig collection will never leave my side, too! :)

Yeah, I'm always being guilted by family (and sometimes friends) about my expenditures...collecting DOES make me happy, but sometimes you look at everything and realize that it's too much. You've gone too far. You can't see half of your collection because it's stuffed behind other collections. Your bank account is almost empty and you need to pay medical bills. Mewtwo has been with me since the beginning, but the other collections just started out of a desire to regain that exciting newness I felt when I started collecting Mewtwo. Much as I love them, the others never meant as much to me, and while I'm sad to see them go, I'm also feeling glad that I won't be crushed with unnecessary items anymore.

actually this post made me realize that my desire to collect mienfoo/shao and drowzee isn't there at all anymore! so i'm planning to sell them soon... and that's exactly what it is. the excitement of collecting something new. the search is so fun... but then it's not for your bank account ha.

and ugh. sometimes i feel that way with my fire collection. i truly and absolutely LOVE each fire pokemon...! but the money. the space. and ugh. at first i wanted to collect EVERY single tomy, kid, zukan and plush, and at this point, i've decided to cut out the kids entirely. it's easy to pile plush, but def. not figures. and it just started to overwhelm me, and i feel like collecting should be more fun than overwhelming aha.

i can't even IMAGINE how much space mewtwo takes up! since he's been here since the first gen and well, he was super popular and important. but yeah. thanks for this post actually :) made me rethink my items, in a good way, of course xD
