The latter article is rather fascinating. Not to mention depressing.

I don't have a problem with ideological changes per se - I mean, I don't like them, but if a government promised them and was elected to do them, fair enough. Except... they're doing them quietly, while talking about other things. As though they're ashamed of the changes, or know that people won't actually want them...
