“Jong Hyun! You asshole! Why did you make Taeminnie cry?! Really, did you have a reason to do that?! I thought you liked younger guys?”
“You make me sound like a fucking pedophile.”
“That’s because you a-“ before Key could finish his sentence, Jong Hyun had chucked something in his direction, causing Key to duck. He didn’t know what it was, nor did he want to know. “But really. The kid wasn’t doing anything wrong. If I may say so myself, I taught him well.” Key smirked proudly.
“Get out. Now. Make sure I never see his fucking face anymore, or you’re gonna get it.” Jong Hyun threatened, and Key shrugged nonchalantly.
“Whatever. It’s your loss. And get whatever’s stuck up your ass out. This attitude of yours is getting kind of annoying.” Key stuck his tongue out at him before sneaking out the door, and just before a chair was thrown in that direction.
Jong Hyun sunk in his sofa and sighed. Key was right. He needed to calm down. Even he was starting to scare himself a little.
--
Jong Hyun came to work the next day, half expecting Taemin to be there again. By habit, he looked up at the spot where he usually sat, and found it empty. Jong Hyun didn’t know whether to feel happy or not. He was content that Taemin wasn’t there anymore, yet there was something else that seemed to be…looking for him. No, it couldn’t have been that.
Jong Hyun served customers all day, just as he had before Taemin came in there. He was certain that Taemin would come in there sooner or later, but he didn’t. He convinced himself that maybe the boy had finally found friends and other things better to do than to stalk him. Once he got home, he turned the tv on, but didn’t pay much attention to whatever was playing. His mind was focused on other things.
His finger hovered slightly above Key’s name, ready to call him any second to ask all the questions he had. Then again, that would be sort of pathetic, wouldn’t it? He sighed and decided against it, trying to focus his attention back on the tv. The clock seemed to tick louder than usual, overpowering the television’s volume, and every passing second seemed to stab Jong Hyun like a dagger. “Oh, fuck this.”
He picked up his phone and dialed Key’s number, drumming his fingers impatiently against his coffee table. There was no answer, and he was greeted by his voice mail. But Jong Hyun felt like he really needed to let it out. “Key, where’s Taemin? What could he be doing other than stalking me? What’s more important than me? Does he really have friends? Then again, I did tell him to go away, but still…Wait, why do I care?! Crap. You know what, nevermind…” he hung up quickly, placing the phone on the table.
“Why do I care?”
--
It had been a week since then, and Jong Hyun had continued living his daily routines normally, trying to forget about Taemin. Once in a while he would catch himself looking at Taemin’s spot again, and then he would convince himself that it was nothing but an annoying habit he couldn’t get rid of.
“Hey, sexy.”
Jong Hyun flinched at the greeting, turned around, and landed his eyes on Key. A small frown found itself on his face, but he greeted him back nonetheless. “Hey, asshole. What do you want?”
“Tsk. Tsk. I see that attitude’s still there. And what do you mean “what do I want”, it’s what you want that I came here for.”
“What I want? How could you possibly know what that is?”
“You left me twenty seven freaking messages this week alone. And they were all about one thing. I think I have a pretty decent idea on what, or who you want.” Key said, flashing him the screen of his cellphone as proof. “Shall I replay them?” he taunted, and Jong Hyun shook his head violently, trying to grab the phone.
“I don’t think that’s necessary.”
“Replay it is.” Key grinned, as he hit a button.
“Key. I hate you. I can’t get that goddamn kid out of my head. Th-this is all just guilt, right? I mean, it’s not like I like him or something…”
Jong Hyun had managed to grab the phone away, deleting all the messages, but Key still had a victorious grin over his face. "So you do like Taeminnie, don't you?"
"Shut up. No I don't."
"Yes you do."
"Do not!"
"Do so!"
"Do not."
"Do not."
"Do so....oh, crap. I can't believe I fell for that." Jong Hyun exhaled, shoving the phone back towards Key. "I do not like him. Repeat, not."
Key rolled his eyes. "Will you stop acting like a three year old and just admit it already?"
"Not admiting anything because I really don't."
"You stubborn asshole. Well, then, you won't mind that I already set him up with someone else, right?" Key smiled innocently.
"N-no, of course not. Why would I?" Jong Hyun flinched slighty, and that didn't go unnoticed to Key.
"Okay, then. I'll see you around." Key smirked, and there was this glint in his eye, but Jong Hyun was too preoccupied to notice it.
"I don't like him...I don't like him.....Do I?" Jong Hyun sighed, banging his head against the counter.
