Name Confusion!

AHHH noes! So I was pretty certain I'd stick with Sarah Yukiko, but someone pointed out to me it's not a name you would usually pick, it's more old fashioned, most names with "ko" are, so it's the equivalent of a name in English like "Mary-sue" or something along those lines ( Read more... )

Having a name that ends in -ko is a big thing in lolita circles though, since lolita tend to use "girl's language" (I don't know the Japanese word right now, but I can look it up if you need) and that tends to be more old-fashioned. I thought there might be a funny little pun in it too. Y'know, snow. Which is white? Ha, lame. = P I know it.

Well Yukiko essentially means "Snow child" ..white is "shiro/shiroi" I dunno how that'd work.

I can kind of see that, but I don't want the overall public to think I'm old-fashioned. A "girls language" or younger loli image is good! Hm.

Sayuki was my suggestion (to tell you the truth, I thought that Sarah Yukiko was too long for my taste so I shortened it to something more easy to say and type ^^ ).
Do what you want, la. No one's going to say it's wrong to be Sayuki, Sarah Yukiko, Yuriko, Shigeko, or whatever (yeah I know, I added the last two for the heck of it...)

Heck, the singer of POLYSICS is a Kayo also D: It don't bother me a bit. :3

Well I know but if I ever become more well known, I want a more unique name.

But yeah..hmmmm....dunno what to do XD;;

Eh... You gotta think of it this way: You aren't going to be the first of whatever name you end up with, so just pick something that you like, are comfortable saying, and that describes/fits you.
A "unique" name is going to be harder to find that you think...

Ah that's true. :/ Especially Japanese names, unless I branched out into other types of names. Hm. I liked Yukiko but it was a bit awkward to say/type. I must give this thought! :D

Late to the party here, but Sara is a Japanese name. Just throwing that out there.

I know that. :) But "Sarah" alone is sort of boring and common :)

It is in the western world, but in Japan it's exotic, because it's not a typical name.

True that! Which is why I want to combine it (More exotic) with a more traditional Japanese name. But *shrugs* It's whateva!
