I got up the nerve to call my old friend Sheresa today. I've had her number for a few weeks now, but the telephone and me don't always get along. Darn it, why doesn't everyone I know have a facebook or myspace. That would elevate the burden of awkward phone conversations for me. Sheresa and I have not spoken since I quit my job almost 2 years ago. We were never extremely close, but if I wanted to talk Ani DiFranco with someone I knew I could go to her. Well, yesterday I received a postcard reminder in my mail that Ani's new tour would be bringing her to Royal Oak, MI (I buy things from her website, so therefore am on the mailing list). I knew that the only person I would ever be able to convince to drive the distance for an Ani DiFranco show in Royal Oak would be my old friend. So, I gathered up the courage and dialed her number. My favorite sound in the world - an answering machine - picked up. So, I left Sheresa my number, mentioned the upcoming show and asked her to call me back. I'm not sure if she will. It's been so long. Maybe she is just as apprehensive as I am about phones.
Today I sent off the last overdue payment Sam and I owed the cable company from when we had high speed internet and cable. Now I am hoping that getting non dial up speed access to the web will be just around the corner. We can afford 20 dollars a month for the internet as opposed to the staggering 80 dollars we were shelling out for both.
