it wouldn't make sense in many cases to have dogs if they weren't so much fucking better than us humans are.

i'm sorry to hear about lizzie. she is a sweet girl. i find a little peace in knowing that in almost any case where one opts to put a gravely ill pet to sleep, they are relieving them of the agony they are almost certainly having to endure. small consolation, but i'm glad you have a chance to be with her and help her be comfortable while you say goodbye.

i'm going to wrap this up because thinking about it makes ME get weepy. i'm not far from it. lizzie should be able to live just as long as people. or more. they all should. okay. enough.
