The mythical creatures round robin round-up

Apr 29, 2010 10:31

We got so many expressions of interest that the round robin has been split into two teams. I hope everyone who was originally generation 10 or later is happy to have been moved forward. If there are any problems, please let me know.

A recap of the rules.

1. This is a pixel_trade  legacy so all legacy spouses/baby daddies/baby mummies must be pixel_trade  sims. This means that alien sprogs are ineligible for heir unless you have a PT replacement hack that contains pixel_trade  sims.

2. All other original round robin rules as laid out by laridian  apply. More or less.  I won't get upset if you change something but the main rules we'll be following are:

a) Heir/heiress is chosen by public poll. You must post the poll here but you can also advertise in other communities to maximise exposure. This also goes for posting updates. You must post updates here but can advertise elsewhere.

b) Only the first three kids are eligible for heir. This means that if you get 4 kids due to twins during last birth, the one that appears first in the mother's memories is the one to participate in the poll. This also means that if you have a PT replacement that does not contain pixel_trade  sims, the family will need to have 3 kids that are eligible for the poll so there may be more than 3 kids born. Heck, try to fulfil the Have 10 Children want if you wish, but only the first 3 kids to be born to a pixel_trade  spouse/mummy/daddy/pollinator will be considered for torch holder. I also don't care if you have the triplets and quads hack. But only the first 3 are elibible for the poll.

c) laridian  says in her rules that you should aim for posting the whole generation in just one post. You are welcome to do more. But please do try to be timely with your updates and play your generation to a close within 2 or 3 weeks of receiving the heir/ess so that, allowing a week for the poll, your generation does not last longer than a month. The people at the end of the list will be waiting up to 10 months for their turn. So let's not keep them waiting too long! This means no college as that slows things down.

d) Except for the founder, all other torch holders start their life as an adult and get chosen by poll in their adult state. They start out like any other CAS sim, with 20K. But you can give them a bit extra if they had a job or earned money in other ways while living with their parents. They also get to keep their skill points and any badges earned plus lifetime reward points. If you don't know how to assign skill points, badges or lifetime reward points, please comment here and I will explain the various methods you can use. Lot size is irrelevant.

3. The naming theme is Mythological Creatures. As far as I'm concerned you can range all over the world or choose a mini-sub-theme within the theme. So you can name sims after a variety of creatures OR you can choose South American Legends or East European Monsters or Creatures from WOW or Creatures from D&D or Harry Potter or whatever else you want. I don't care what the monster/creature is as long as the name is that of the creature and not of a fictional character that embodies the creature. So you can name a kid Vampire but not Vlad or Dracula to give an explicit example.

4. Every sim week you get to roll a die, real or virtual on your PC or iPod or whatever, and do one of the challenges from this post. For the founders, the challenges start when they age to adult.

The legacies

9.
10. daisywenham

This means that we can take either 1 or 2 more. I put myself down for the final generation of both, but I am more than happy to give up the final spot in the Mythos round robin.

I hope everyone is OK with this. We had so many expressions of interest, I didn't want to leave anyone out nor did I want people waiting much more than a year for their turn to come. So while a 20 generation legacy would have been a fun and ambitious project, I think that two 10 generation legacies are more achievable. I'm sorry but we won't be stretching either of the round robins to more than 10 generations each. I'm going to have my hands full keeping track of 2 of them over the next year and badgering the participants to keep them in line and on time :) So the next 2 people to express their interest are in but I'm closing the expressions of interest for good after that. You can still say that you would like to participate and if anyone drops out for personal reasons you would then be contacted to take their place. This would be to reduce people getting shuffled around by having to take a generation earlier than they were expecting. Some have already been pushed forward by 10 generations anyway.

Edited 03 Oct 2010 to reflect current set-up for generations.
