As the sliding glass door slid shut behind him, sealing out the sounds, Chris took a deep breath. He knew this talk was necessary, but that didn't mean he liked it. He took one last quick look outside, half grinned at how Lance and Joey each waved their hands at him to get going, and finally went looking for JC.

He wasn't in all the obvious places. The kitchen was empty, the bathrooms, his bedroom, the studio. He finally found JC in the garage. He stared at a spot of dirt on the floor, hands stuffed deep in his jeans pockets as he leaned against the front bumper of Chris's Escalade.

"JC?" he asked quietly as he took a careful step closer. He stopped next to JC, leaned against the bumper with him. He was close enough to feel JC's body heat, but not close enough to touch.

JC looked up. Tension pulled at the corners of his eyes and he smiled weakly. "Still pissed?" he finally asked.

Chris shook his head. "Not so much. Confused, maybe."

JC sighed and scuffed his foot against the floor. "Yeah. Look, Chris, I never kissed him. You just - you walked in at a bad time."

Chris grunted. "I'll say. You were touching him."

JC looked up sharply. "Chris, I was pushing him away. He wanted to kiss me, but that doesn't mean I wanted to kiss him. And you'd have known that by now if you hadn't been avoiding me."

Chris bumped shoulders with JC. "Shaddup. Still love me?" he asked quietly.

JC leaned his head on Chris's shoulder. "Yeah, I do. You're stuck with me, dude."

Chris smiled and chuckled softly. Like that was such a bad thing.
