The child is stranded in Rome-not that she doesn't love it-she does-but the added expense and stress is exactly what she doesn't need. flights back to london are canceled for the 1300 flights-she leaves at 2000-trains are booked and nobody is going anywhere-and she is freaked about the added expense, her not having her laptop or her study material ( Read more... )

Oh crap.

I didnt even think about her being out there.

If people are stuck they are going to have to make allowances.

when do the exams start?

May 11 is her first final-but she is stressed because it is her psych final-class from last semester. I am sure that she will be back in plenty of time (keeps all crossable appendages crossed)but...
she went with 3 friends on the 7th, they were supposed to fly back wednesday night.

Oh, Id forgoten she was there, poor thing. Nothing to do about the studying but I think the insurance and plane companies cover the cost of accomodation and reasonable living expenses, at least that's what I heard on the radio

How would she able to take advantage of that? She is fretting about funds right now. I hope she gets out on wednesday-some of the flights I hear, are going to be taking off-but who knows.

I don't know if she's already looked at this, but Eurolines is a coach company that operates throughout Europe...she might be able to get a bus to London:

I believe she has already looked into that-and said that there are no spaces available. apparently everybody else had that thought.

One of my flist lives in Rome...If you'd like, I could contact her and see if she has any ideas?

Has she managed to get any closer to Britain or is she still in Rome?

PANIC NOT.

She will be fine. Most unis are in the same position - there are emergency provisions being drawn up (here at least) now and the Exams Office are already changing their plans for the delayed first sits (which Z would be entitled to) which are scheduled for August. 80% of our students are stuck in China!
The only sticking point is that they may ask her to take the DFS back in the UK but IF that happens, let know, I can help you put something together for a concession.

DOES SHE NEED MONEY??

Thank you. I told her to email her professors-I figured she wasn't the only one stranded. I haven't heard from her yet today-so I guess we can take it day by day.
