I've decided to go legit and start a business plan for my freelance work as register a business name etc. I was wondering if any of you knew if there were any workshops about doing something like this (starting a small business) in the burgh area....... either independent or through one of the schools.

Thanks!!!

Try these guys:

SCORE ... they are a nonprofit of retired executives who help people start new small businesses. Good luck.

I am pretty sure CCAC has classes on this sort of thing in their noncredit program.

CCAC does have a class that can help you. It's in their adult continuing ed schedule.

Pitt and Duquesne both have SBDCs which offer free seminars and counseling for small businesses and new ventures. Good courses and great resources.

And then, sign up with SCORE.

You may also think about buying "Small Business for Dummies" which has a ton of info in it. I have my own biz too, and I'm incorporated as an S corp. Best of luck.
