There is a dancing goats well now its known as Crazy Mocha(in my opinion I liked dancing goats better) anyway...I live in Lawrenceville and have never really checked out Bloomfield....wait wait...there is a coffeehouse with WIFI right across from where they are putting the new Childrens Hospital Building on Penn less then a half a block up from Main...we see it all the time when we drive by...there's a Sammy's on the corner of Penn & Main if you're into that sort of food and atmosphere..

The coffee shop is Penn Main Cafe, I think. I catch my bus right there.

as someone already suggested, duds n suds for laundry!! the quiet storm coffeehouse is good stuff, and you must must MUST go to the BBT!!!! (it's pittsburgh's only polish party house, and i have the t-shirt to prove it). if you're into dive bars, there's also nicos; it's wicked shady, but always good for a few laughs.

outdoorsy stuff is a little harder to come by since the area is so densely residential. you won't be too far from highland park though, so there's that area, and of course you can get to schenley easily too. i think those are the only places we ever went (we used to live on s. aiken). you'll also be close to whole foods, and if you're close to baum, you'll also be walking distance to mitchell's for lots of cheap fabulous alcohol!!

is it obvious that i can't wait to move back to the 'burgh? :)

I seem to remember going to the BBT for some sort of drum and bass night a couple times... pretty cool place.

Thanks for the dive bar tip, sometimes it's fun to go to a really shady place and make fun of the drunk Yinzers. :)

oh yes, nico's is the place for that... i forget what night it is, but they have a karaoke night, and if you've ever wanted to hear classic rock songs sung with a yinzer accent... well that's the place :) they also have fantastic french fries.

for food I would recommend Tessaro's which is on the main drag down by Foodland. Down the street from that is Del's Italian. At the intersection across from Foodland is a little polish bar/restaurant (I cannot remember the name). And up by West Penn Hospital is Lombardozi's (near Starbucks I believe?) - little pricey but a lot of food. It's been there forever, I remember eating there when I was younger, and having my graduation dinner there. 20 years later and it's still in business.

Ohhh yes. Grasso Roberto is great, and most of their coffee drinks are pretty cheap, too (plus, they serve La Prima Espresso coffee which is always awesome, no matter where you get it!). Totally worth checking out. :D
