Banking Recommendations

Jul 26, 2005 23:56

I'm relatively new to the area and I need to open a new checking account as my bank doesn't have a local branch.

Can anyone tell me about their experiences (good or bad) with local banks? I like to be able to track my finances online too, so if you use those types of services, info on that would also be appreciated.

Cheers,
Avocado

I've used Dollar Bank for years (as have my parents) and they haven't had a problem.

But honestly if you want to save your self a lot of hassle, get PNC because just about every ATM in Pittsburgh is PNC.

I'd have to recommend National City also. I've never had a problem with them and from what I heard, when they do do something stupid (face it, all banks do) they were quick to correct it and very apologetic.

National City is nice. They printed a bunch of my past statements for me and said they weren't gonna charge me for them. :)

I use PNC for pretty much everything, but then again, my dad works there, so I'm biased. ;D But they have tons and tons of ATMs around here and good on-line services too.

I would say PNC bank. They have more branches and ATMs than most. 7-11 and cogos almost every single one has an ATM, you can also cash a check at about half of the ATMs down to the penny. I've worked in PNC and their customer service has been nothing but helpful to me. They are extremely anal about procedures on the inside and security which really makes me feel better about them, they will usually work with you on somethings as well, I overdrew my account one day and I managed to ge into a branch that day and deposited money and they didn'tt even charge me, national city would have charged me as well as citizens.
