carpet cleaning companies

My landlord is requiring me to get my apartment's carpet professionally cleaned before I move out. Can anyone recommend a good (and preferably cheap, since I'm a broke grad student) carpet cleaning company?

services: cleaning

I thought cleaning carpets was the landlord's responsibility.

really. is that specified in your lease or something? I have never been required to clean the carpets of a rental - sounds fishy to me.....

The reason the landlord asks you to do it is so that they can return your entire security deposit. At least, that's what it was for us. We used a guy called Tony Ferraganio, who charged $65 for a one bedroom apt. I don't have the number, but you should be able to find it online somewhere. Good luck!

I think this should only apply if one has damaged the carpet in some particular way the landlord can point to. If the carpet needs to be steam cleaned or whatever merely so the landlord can tell the next tenant it is properly cleaned then it should be the landlord's responsibility. (assuming there is not weird clause in the lease)

my old landlord had that policy too. we didn't do it, and he just took the cost out of our deposit. my roommate wasn't moved out completely until the *last* day of the lease, so we really didn't have time to get them done.

Where are you at? I used Econokleen, but they're up here in Natrona Heights. I've had two rooms done for $45. I found them in Yahoo's yellow pages.

I'm in Oakland...I'm starting to think that it might just be worth it to tell them to deduct the carpet cleaning cost from my security deposit...this is looking to be a bit of a pain...oh the frustrations of moving!!
